Rtx 2080. price premium for eye candy effects while compromising frame rates. I thought rtx 2080 msrp is $799, not $699

Radeon 7. Smaller price premium ($699) for 16GB HBM2 with 1TB/s bandwidth for professional application such as content creation. It is meant to be a workstation card. Workstation card will suffer a small penalty when use for gaming.

GTX1080Ti. Cant or very difficult to buy new card now? Older process tecnology. Less ram than radeon. Less eye candy features than rtx.

not sure if i seen it correctly and everyone have been mentioning $799 and how 100 less from amd is a "WOW" factor

and if gaming-wise...who's gonna use 16gb hbm2?

ppl seems to just like...oh its nvidia..ray tracing bad, tensor core useless. amd woah 16gb hbm2 so much awesome.

I just checked NVIDIA webpage. RTX 2080 FE is going at USD799
https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/rtx-2080/

Generally, gaming at 4k with all the setting max, you need between 8 to 12 GB of VRAM.

So 16 GB is overkill but might become useful in a few years time.

Having said that, 16 GB VRAM is more suitable for professional work. So if you are a content creator that also game, then 16 GB radeon 7 will be ideal for you.

Sigh..... i really dont know whats nvidia is doing....

Their 1080ti is great..... but their 2080 and 2080ti sucks big time....

Its not about the performance but rather price/performance ratio.

2080 is so expensive but performs like 1080ti...... yes, there are innovations like dlss, ray tracing and tensor cores. But the biggest problem is that these are proprietary implementations. Your game need to be coded to support these features. So far, there is very little support.

Biggest hype is definitely rtx. Yes nice!! It works!! But spend $2k to play at 1080p?? We are just talking about reflections in bf5......not some game changing cinematic effects.. So far those really nice ray tracing stuff are nothing more than demo, eg. Latest created by nvidia....

Then i feel they are getting a little too greedy....... the flagship 2080ti is now 999 vs 699 for 1080ti......... 2080 is barely faster than 1080ti and its 799??

2060 is probably 600-700 in sg...... hardly a replacement for 1060.

My sentiments exactly. This entire RTX series from nvidia is a very poor gpu line up with very bad price/performance and bad value with so much emphasize on immature tech like ray tracing and DLSS. Just hoping that amd and intel can save us all and release something good and bring the entire gpu market back to normal.

Nvidia is happily selling gpu at a ridiculous prices due to lack of competition in the GPU market. It is sad to say that nowadays when looking to buy new gpu still have to look at something like the GTX 1060 for a good value PC build which is already a 2.5 or 3 years old GPU already.

Maybe even the RX570, rx580 but those are cards that have been refresh for god knows how many times already. Its very very sad. Here is hoping amd and intel can save us all and release something that is competitive in prices and bring the entire gpu market to normal again.

Here's also hoping amd navi or the new intel discrete graphics would be awesome.

2080ti is target for 1440p or 2160p to be honest. To benchmark it with 1080p to me it just not right. As a user perspective, if you want to game 1080p, of course dont get rtx 20880ti.. Just buy 2060 or even 1080ti will suits you liao.

You should be comparing the Founders edition, not the start from 699 to compare. Both are premium cards from Nvidia and AMD respectively. At least looking at Vega 56 and 64, AMD cards are generally better built than Nvidia's and comparable to those high end 3rd party cards. Only the blower was very disappointing since the card itself emits too much heat for the blower to handle.

Poor price to performance, this I fully agree. To be honest, the entire Turing brings about a solid performance uplift despite it being developed from an improved 16nm fab/node(what they called 12nm). But the price is off the charts as well as Nvidia simply push their pricing into the next price bracket, i.e. RTX 2080 cost the same or more than a GTX 1080Ti.

Locally if one is looking for a decent brand new graphic card, the RX 580 is actually a good card to get. While it is not as power efficient as say a GTX 1070, the price difference is still too great with RX 580 going for below 300 bucks. It will run 1080p very well, and even manages 1440p with cut down graphical settings.

I doubt AMD can make a big impact in the near future, but looking forward to see if Intel can make that impact in 2020.

GTX 1080 Ti is way overkill for 1080p. Even an older GTX 1070 can run almost any games, if not every game at very high graphical settings at this resolution.

Don't understand what is the disappointment TS is saying.

Intel shows very excited products, yes?

In fact, Nvidia's RTC cards are also disappointing if you ask me. Launch day, no RTX no DLSS games ready. Few months later, still barely any titles. With RTX enabled, even the high and mighty 2080 Ti struggles resorting to lower RTX settings and some AI tricks to make it run smoother.

Since I already have a 1070, Turing is a snoozefest at launch prices.

CPU side even more boring for gaming since anything that is Ryzen 2600 and faster will easily hold you for 5 years.

For people who owns a Pascal card, Turing is not very interesting. True that it brings about a 20+ to 30% improvement, it is also accompanied by a significant increase in price.

For CPU, I feel the software have yet to catch up. But AMD did make it more interesting by breaking the 4 core barrier that Intel is very happy to maintain for at least a decade.

Both Intel and Nvidia shows very exciting products from shareholders eyes. Not consumers.
Paying high money for little gain.

Don't understand what TS trying to say here.
