Why do dogs bark when they hear noise outside the house even when the door is closed?

I observed some time.

They barked because they want to protect their owners. So whenever got stranger passby, they will bark at them, asking them to leave.

But when the owner open the door and let the person go in, sit down and chit chat, then the dog will realise it's the owner friend, no harm, then the dog will come and sniff you.

When the owner bring the dog out for a walk, they won't bark at stranger because they know they are outside, and strangers are alright to be there, walking around the vicinity because it's outside, but not home.

my neighbour dog something bark when he is alone in the house. Feel that he is sibei boring that why bark. Coz after owner come back and play with him, when we walk past, run past or jump past he also don't care about us and don't bark anymore

It is normal for a dog to bark when they hear footsteps outside the house bro.

those who have dog at home know that their dogs will actually mark their scent outside the house so outside in the perimeter is belong to the dog.

like my house whenever got people walk near my front door my dog will bark and go to the door. once the person walk away my dog keep quiet
