Why do maids get tested?

Have been asked by friend why maids have to get tested every six months to work in Singapore... actually don't know the answer. Anyone?

LOL you have never read the reports before...
Maids are very lonely and are very promiscuous...
there is even a report of a maid having sex with the employers' 2 sons and spreading AIDS to them.... teenager boys only... very young

I think what you said is unbelievably presumptuous. SOME maids are promiscuous, not all. Just like some Singaporeans are, but not all.

The rational for the ruling is to protect the public against unwanted pregnancies, infection control etc. But it does not mean the maids are any more at risk than others. They are doing it more often presumably because they are care givers and will typically take care of children and elderly.
