Why do universities in Thailand require students to wear uniform?

I plan to go Chulalongkang university to study Phd but i heard need to wear uniform. Can you imagine 40 yo uncle wearing uniform in 37 degrees heat? go outside the Thai bu sure laugh until stomach pain

I see the Thaibu uniform very sexy can wear mini skirt but guys need to wear long sleeve shirt and long pants. why like that? Our satki NUS also don't have uniform requirement
