Nope, your initial point was why dump the iMac 2011. You obviously don't think that using a HDD will degrade user experience even with your talk about how ram upgrade and SSD helps. That's why you gave your FIL an iMac running a HDD.

You assumed that your FIL would be happy with an iMac 2013 upgrade but if you had any sense, you would have put in a SSD like your 2011 and we wouldn't even be hearing your FIL's complain LOL...

As I expected, you will just refuse to admit your misread.
Don't divert issue by creating your imaginative arguments (which I did not say) to disprove what I wrote down clearly.
Nothing is more obvious and factual than what I wrote down in my #1 post.

I notice there has been a lot of people selling their 2011 27inch iMacs away at low price e.g. $600-$700.
With cheap RAM and SSD upgrade to these iMacs, in real world use (excluding video/audio processing), user experience is way better than those iMac 2012/2013/2014 without Fusion/SSD.
Even compared to the latest iMac (default with Fusion), other than retina display, there is no noticeable difference.
Are we chasing after/lured away by high specifications and numbers?

This is my point which is also your point that you commented below .

You are the one who doesn't understand. The HDD is the main limiting factor/bottleneck in modern PCs. Anything better than intel core2duo would fly with SSD while things will crawl even if you have the latest 8th gen i7 chip and a 5400rpm HDD

I have to LOL here.

Ahem, plug in a ssd on the 2013 and tell us if your FIL still considers it a downgrade.
You under-estimate how much SSD affects perf.

Huh? Didn't I just mention CLEARLY that with RAM and SSD upgrade, iMac 2011 can be better in user experience than those iMac 2013 without SSD?
It is so obvious that you misread what I wrote and started babbling around.

Be a man and admit your mistake!
Everyone who will read this thread will know you made the mistake and refuse to admit it.

Pls continue to reply on this thread and show the whole world how stubborn and unwilling you are to admit your mistake.

Also, pls continue to embarrass yourself more with your CMI defence.

Nothing to be man about. If you're so cock sure about the RAM and SSD upgrade why did you not include a SSD for your FIL's iMAC 13?

How do you know I do not intend to include? Must I die die include first then let my FIL use?
In any case, this argument of yours is also irrelevant.

Even if I did not include or do not intend to include the SSD, I already made the statement in my #1 post that SSD can greatly enhance the user experience and made that my point.
You just cannot accept this, can you?
Who is so cock here?

carfan said in his #1 post:

(therefore Title: Why dump iMac 2011?)

SquallLH after reading the above said:
carfan under-estimate how much SSD affects perf. (I under-estimated SSD's performance when I said SSD can way better enhance user experience? Where is your logic SquallLH? Where?)

If you are man enough, explain your logic here.
I bet you won't take up this challenge and start beating around the bush to distract readers again. You will prove me right. (which I hope not :) )

Not enough still, SquallLH went on to say and explain his "shocking" revelation - lol:
carfan does not understand. (He does not understand that)
The HDD is the main limiting factor/bottleneck in modern PCs. Anything better than intel core2duo would fly with SSD while things will crawl even if you have the latest 8th gen i7 chip and a 5400rpm HDD

Isn't this what I am saying here also? Please also explain your logic when you said I do not understand when I said is exactly what you said.

If it is not you misreading what I wrote, then I think your logic really has problem.

Why blow up such a trivial stuff? :s13:

The whole world knows SSD>>> fusion drive>>> normal HDD for same processor family.

Frankly, I am kinda surprised people still think of using fusion drive and thinking it will be fast... It's fast because of the small SSD but once the ssd is gobbled up by apps, it will be slow like tortoise.

Erwinrommel.

Yes, it was a simple matter.
I was just sharing my thoughts for healthy discussion.
You got my point, joined in as well and agreed that iMac with SSD was competent but sold away for a much faster and newer model.

When he made his first response.
I was being polite and asked him to read one more time nicely what I wrote.
I even repeated to him that with SSD an older iMac can still impress.

All he need to do is just keep silence or ack that he misread.
Instead, he started the offensive to say I was the one who do not understand and started to say things about me that aren't true.

This is where he becomes rude.

Nope, I still don't see your point in citing an example about your FIL's iMAC 13 with the HDD although you kept saying you already knew SSD is better. "In case you don't already know. I knew I shouldn't have done it but I did so let me bitch although it's an established fact"

The other fact that keeps me replying here is also obviously your response amuses me.

Btw, you are the one who thought that you made such a big revelation about SSD improving perf of older iMacs not me :s13: I thought it would be obvious fact to all but you had to make a thread here to tell everyone about it. So props to you :D

Now you don't see my point in citing my example?
It is a just simple point: My FIL finds iMac 2011 with SSD is better than iMac 2013 with HDD.

My logic:
At the point of writing my Post #1, I claimed that iMac 2011 SSD has better user experience compared to iMac 2013 with Fusion/SSD.
Therefore, at the point of writing my Post #1, I already understood that SSD can improve the performance/user experience.

Your logic:
Before I wrote my Post #1, I had allowed my FIL to use his iMac 2013 with HDD
Therefore, at the point of my writing of Post #1, I do not understand that SSD can improve the performance/user experience.

So you stood by your logic, SquallLH?
Just a yes or no answer.

You keep avoiding my simple questions.
Are they so hard to answer?

All I want to say is iMac 2011 is still good with SSD and wonder why people dump them.
All other forumers who read this simple thread responded nicely except you.

And at least I won't be so rude like you going around to tell people off.

And your logic is
I do not understand SSD is better because I had allowed my FIL to use his iMac 2013 with HDD?
Yes / No?

Simple point. You understood SSD gives better performance but you were expecting him to be enjoying his iMac with HDD?

You accused me of being rude but was also the first to hurl insults. Someone's having an emotional meltdown and it's definitely not me :D
