retrenchment was already written on the walls of the well when the great flood came. its just the frogs were bz frolicking and admiring how safe the well is to tink about how the fllood might affect the tadpoles

everywhere retrench but COE tells a different story..
Many car owners are struggling to own their cars. Hope they will realize soon that their happiness should not be dependent on what people think of them. We should ensure that when that fateful day comes, we have left enough for our children.

Very strange?

Why Singkies keep talking about retrenchment while young foreigners are pouring into Singapore for job opportunities. 2 of my foreign interns have converted after graduation. The company knows how to play the game to obtain EP/SP for them. HR knows the loopholes.

Many foreigners are coming to Singapore to look for jobs because jobs are scarce in their own countries. Singapore is the best country in Asia which opens its legs super wide for foreign workers.
they have been playing the games for many many years . they know how to go around all those policies even those new wayang policies. they were purposely left with loopholes until ppl find out and complain then they will "patch" it and the vicious cycle continues until sinkies do something about it . :o

Now you know. Too late to stop the flood gate.
The gate cannot be closed because Singapore is run like Inc. Without young foreigners coming in to take up jobs, Singapore is finished. Singapore only advantage is human capital.

The gate will open wider and wider as time goes by.

Young Singkies must embrace such change. Learn a hard skill so that when you are retrenched after 40s, you can still make money out of your hard skill while looking for the next opportunity.

The beauty of gig economy ish there ish no retrenchment mechanism.
Workers will ownself leave the industry and will not add to retrenchment lumbers.

To ensure high employment at high income the solution ish to implement the Inverted Pyramid Economic Model.
Which i am sure Sg has already implemented and will implement in greater intensity.
I m doing gig now. But its very satured cause too many ppl doing. Jobs getting cheaper and cheaper. Earn 1 to 2 dollars job u wanna do?

Next time 40 % population are unemployed mainly over 50s n fresh grad can only do gig job
Chum! By then gig job like Grab drivers, Taxi drivers also replaced by "Autonomous Taxis", "Automonous Buses" (in trial now in Punggol, NTU, etc), and Delivery replaced by "Robots", replaced by "Drones", etc.!
