as above, this is more of a thinking topic lol :s13:
was wondering why intel doesnt make 4core-4thread i5 quadcore cpu for laptops, since its well known that i7-4core-8threads in laptops produce quite a fair amount of heat. i was wondering if 4-core-4thread cpu inside laptop will produce less heat and also be cheaper so that consumers have more choice. intel has done so for desktop but didnt do it at all for laptops. correct me if im wrong + all feedback welcome thnx in advc~

The number of threads doesnt affect the heat output.
Both the i5 4670 and i7 4770 has 84w TDP.
Makes sense to put the most efficient version (hyperthreaded) into a laptop.

In fact, Intel is now moving away from quad core and focus more on their U & Y series of mobile processors. This is base on a simple fact: Most users prefer longer battery over better processor.

Dual core processors are good enough for most of users in the market, but the desire for longer battery life never stops. :)

Also with current Hyper threading technologies, it can fulfill most consumer's multi tasking needs.
