Why is AS 400 still so common?

probably not the best place to ask this.

how come this is still in use?
i supposed stability is the main reason?

Too proprietary? Apps diff to migrate? Heard it's a reliable machine. OS and database are integrated.

Usually ppl dont migrate is cause the software is not supported on new hardware plus firmware.

Simple.
The old not broken don't fix it mentality.
If want to change need to spend a lot of money.
Training, Support, Migration, etc not cheap.

Until support going to end, then panick fast hand fast leg ask vendor do cheap, fast half **** migration. When go live, problems all over the place til ops up to management buay tahan.
