Why is my power button not working?

Not sure if it has been posted before, but my power button seems to be acting up these few days.

If i remove the battery and put it back in, it won't start up until i did a full charge. No matter how i pressed it, it just won't switch on. But works perfectly after a full charge.

Its a note2.

Anyway you can try this trick to turn it on. When the phone is off, plug in so it's charging (the green battery icon should show). Then quickly do the following: (1) Unplug the cable (2) Immediately within half second or so, pull battery and put it back in. Do it quickly and it will turn on.

I kept doing this with my S3 after the power button stopped working. I used the phone for several months that way without any problem (except the minor inconvenience) until I changed to a new phone recently. I also carry a power bank so I could do it any time.

I tried the app "volume unlock" and it works too.

Funny why samsung has this issue.
