Why sharing promo codes are not allowed in Grab food promo thread?

Hi Dr Vijay,

Many members including me are puzzled why promo codes are not allowed in this thread:

Grab food promo [NO PROMO CODES ALLOWED]

I can understand why referral code are disallowed as it involved commission being given to the referrer, but promo code offers no financial compensation to anyone sharing the code. It benefit members of the HWZ community as many of us are WFH or under SHN, and food delivery is one way of having our meals without stepping out of the house. Promo codes allow us enjoy discounts and cut our food expenses is which very much needed in difficult times like now.

Please review and re-consider the decision to disallow promo code to be shared in the abovementioned thread.

I can understand the rationale on banning referral codes/links. This has been a well established understanding.

However, if the promotion code does not give the sharer any financial compensation, why shouldn't it be allowed?

So I checked and initially was good until some ppl reported that a few promo codes had monetary transactions involved, hence the tag. Perhaps they didn't state what kind of codes not allowed but anyway I edited the thread title for better clarity.
