Govt Agrees In Principle To Remove RON95 Subsidies For Wealthier Malaysians

https://says.com/my/gomen/malaysia-remove-ron95-subsidy-t20-anwar

The government says it has agreed in principle to rationalise RON95 fuel subsidies for higher-income groups, but is still deciding whether the policy should apply to the T20, T15, T10 or top 5% of earners.

"In principle, we agree, but we want to ensure it does not affect the upper-middle class. They are working on it, and I hope it will be finalised soon."

Be careful what you wished for... Rationing is sometimes for socialist or communist countries that didn't manage their resource distribution well among their citizens. If you support rationing, the next thing they ration could be your salary...

One thing you are right, Singapore does not have such problem. Why would you want Singapore to have such problem? Malaysians competitiveness translating to income that couldn't catch up with prices of petrol and can only survive by government subsidizing their petrol heavily. Now that the government coffer is running dry, they have to cut their subsidies to only the poor people.

Low income due to low skillsets. Government coffer running low. Singapore have none of those problems indeed.
