Sorry for the late reply, I am in another time zone. Evenings in Singapore are mornings for me.
All threads are highly contextual, so there is no hard and fast rule on how we deal with “thread bumpers”.
I hope my reply will help clear any misconceptions and provide a high level understanding on how we deal with such matters.
On thread bumping, if the replies serve to follow up on the contents of thread, then no action will be taken. That said, action will be taken on bot accounts or users spamming “+1”, an emoticon or some nonsensical phrase (e.g., aaaaa) to increase post count. This does not fall within fair posting grounds.
On another note, the suggested thread function is intended to prompt users on the existence of similar threads to prevent double posting. We encourage users to use this function and participate in these suggested threads. That said, due to the variety of thread title combinations, these thread suggestions may sometimes not be prompted. No worries about that.. this falls on us, and we will simply merge the similar threads. We receive thread merger requests on a daily basis and as far as I know, we have not issued any warnings for thread merging.
