will athlon 200ge bottleneck rx580?

as per title. currently running a xeon e5 2696v2, getting pretty nasty stuttering in war thunder which isnt very graphically intensive. i have a spare 200ge lying around, but unsure if i will encounter worse performance so havent made the platform switch yet. any bros have similar configs or any idea?

Err... xeon e5 2696v2 isn't a gaming CPU so it can't perform very well despite it have 12 cores.
Athlon 200GE will be worse for gaming since it is a low power dual core CPU.
What is your current specs like motherboard.

War Thunder isn't demanding so if your motherboard support i7 XE LGA2011 you can change to that.
However i7 XE CPU itself can be very expensive even second hand.
If you want to change, depending on budget you can look for second hand Intel i5/i7 with a decent motherboard.

AMD Athlon 200GE (Clock speed at 100%) with AMD Radeon RX 580 (Clock speed at 100%) x1 will produce 15.42% of CPU bottleneck on 1080p resolution. Everything over 10% is considered as bottleneck.

If you already have an AM4 MB, there are much better choices for a gaming CPU. I've tried dual core CPUs before and they are not good for anything other than office work and surfing the web.

how much usage ( in percentage) is you cpu and gpu during gaming ?

sometimes game design itself is the limiting factor. You will also need to find out how many cpu cores are in use during gaming.

when did your stuttering occur ? you may want to roll back to a more stable gpu driver 1st.

id rather spend money on an upgradeable platform, ie am4 since i already have an am4 cpu.

thanks, ive seen the website too, but i dont think that these calculators are particularly accurate. then again, ive seen videos showing bottlenecks with the 2200g so im not optimistic that the 200ge will do better.

cpu i never go and check but i do have a gpu monitor that comes with my gpu software. since i disabled radeon chill my rx580 (downclocked to 1150mhz) runs at 100% most of the time and is usually enough to push about 100fps which is more than i need (75hz on my monitor), but when it comes to loading certain map elements or when my aircraft goes supersonic (with the sonic boom effect) it can drop to as low as 30-40fps. sometimes i check my task manager and see that not a lot of threads utilised, maybe 4 threads at most.

Yes. Definitely will bottleneck. I've used a rx580 with a fx8320 (which is faster than the athlon) in the past. Noticeable uplift when I switched to a 3600 with the rx580.

seeing the new bottleneck thread recently reminded me of this thread, so a quick update. ive made the switch, and honestly its been a mixed bag. some scenes choke harder on the 200ge while on others it doesnt where the 2696v2 used to. on checking task manager, war thunder seems to only tax 1 thread and at 3.2ghz the unlucky thread is still almost at 100% utilisation. unfortunately i lost the silicon lottery with the 200ge, only able to get to a psuedo stable oc of 3.7ghz and still produces weird behaviour in game, so i decided not to oc it. maybe if i switched to a zen/+ processor it might be better, but id prefer one with integrated graphics and those cost a pretty penny at the moment. thankfully control is a primarily gpu bound game, even at 1080p :s13:

For 1080p, the dual core processor with a low clockspeed is going to suffer big time. While the average frame rate may look alright, I feel the minimal to highest frame rate is going to swing wildly. I suspect the minimal frame rate will likely plummet by downgrading to a 200GE.

You can get a 5600G for S$3XX now. Lowest price members have SIC here is around S$350. You can consider that.

i dont trust userbenchmark, heavily biased towards intel.

im just using an rx580, so the effect shouldnt be as great.

anyways thanks bros for the recommendations for the 5600g. it is a tad too expensive for me and i can get similar gaming performance from zen 2 (as the 5000g series suffers from reduced l3 cache), so ill probably get a 4000 series chip, which can be way cheaper, when its time to get back to dgpu gaming.

4000 series are sold as OEM only.
Your budget is how much?

My 2 cents. Either the fastest clocked 4 core or cheapest 6 core am4 chip that's supported on your board.
