Will hdd RPM affect game play?

I recently changed my seagate 7200rpm hdd to a wd 5400rpm hdd.

Now I play guild wars 2, will face lag and delay. If I change back to my 7200rpm hdd, it plays fine.

Could the rpm be the problem? Alot of people online say sldnt be but I cannot diagnose any problem liao eh.

Isn't lag and delay usually related to isp?

My isp no problem cause I use laptop play together no problem, and i play with my old hdd at 7200rpm no problem..

Do you know what the spinning of the disc inside hdd is actually for?

For games, it can only load the programe and files. The higher rpm, the faster.

I dunno whats it for but what I read online is that it loads to the ram. Which is why I find it weird of my problem. The whole computer no change but the use of different hdd with different rpm will caused the lag.

Time for a SSD cum HDD combo already.

No point just going for a single HDD.

HDD can go for storage uses and SSD can go for programs and games.

Yes. Works brilliant on mmorpgs and fps gaming. Those strategy game just load with hdd.

Haha true laa but I really dunno what's the problem. If 5400 rpm cannot work, my laptop is 5400rpm and worked fine. So very confuse eh.. Ahhhh!!!

Could it be your antivirus software interfering with the disk I/O? It locks and scans each file your game reads or writes, slowing things down and causing stuttering.

May also be related to different I/O and disk controller and caching, so different 5400rpm HDDs perform differently.

No point just going for a single HDD.

HDD can go for storage uses and SSD can go for programs and games.

That doesn't make sense, 7200 to 5400 might increase your loading time but it shouldn't cause any significant lag. Try reformatting and installing Windows from scratch.

I deleted all the antivirus and even tried closing firewall, still same .

What you mean different IO??

is ur game settings higher on ur pc, lower on laptop (eg texure setting, screen resolution)...? i can imagine slower hdd rpm & access times could affect texture loading etc, tat are dynamic when moving around the game world...

Yes laptop lower graphic settings.

But the thing is, if I use my old 7200rpm hdd, i can play gw2 at max settings. But not with the new hdd.
