I will think 5s is as fragile as ip5, because using the same material. 5c should be more durable than 5s, the plastic is special harden to 8H???, quite scratch proof.

Chipping is unavoidable. Can only minimize chipping area with use of casing..

If the empty phone shell shown in this video is what it will be on the actual product, then it seems that it holds up better than the black/slate model.
It will get scratches though, but it doesn't seems to show the silver underneath.
