If they are sticking with the tiong name, chances are they won't make it internationally.

See the name already turned off.

They didn’t even get many things right before the ban, EMUI wise, under the android base. Now they have to start from ground zero, i feel it is abit too much to ask in too little time. I am aware they have been preparing for years with an alternate system and they are only saying it to quell market fears because these plan Bs haven’t been adequately stress tested in real world usage.

Android and iOS have had so many years to build upon and improve, because of their wide user base, bugs and security threats are faster to identify and rectified. I doubt Huawei’s new OS will be quite as polished and without rapid largescale adoption, it will go the way of the windows phone.

I like what they are doing hardware wise and improvements to Camera, batteries etc and overall pricing policy serve to keep other competitors in check and improve as a collective whole, which is good for consumers

No.
Start of launch will have a lot of bugs.
It will take years to improve.

Look at Android and iOS, they have been there for over a decade and it is still polishing.

I don't mind trying if it is good. We used to think Nokia is the best until Apple launch iphone. Seriously no one can predict the future

Is not easy to introduce a new OS to market. OS is only part of the story. You also need support from varies application developer to suppprt the new OS. With the market already fill with all kinds of applications. How fast can Huawei catch up or failed? Will end user and developer take this risk?

Cannot compare today's situation with Nokia and iOS day. In those day, application is handful. Soon iOS win due to availability of Appstore. Then it become Android vs iOS, anyone can remember how many years Android vs iOS competition last? Yes, until today and it has never end. Most important to know, during competition WinOS on phone. Plus some others officially dead!

Correct. Also, is not easy to create another one brand one OS company like Apple again. Even Apple is facing big challenges now a days.

Will any users want to face similar situation like WinOS, when everyone is using the same apps, WinOS users say oh mine is not yet supported?

Simple for me. No GApps and services no talk. I don't want to invest on another OS probably sharing the same fate as windows phones.

Sent from HUAWEI CLT-L29 using GAGT

The name itself fails. It sounds shallow and in-confident, merely with a hope (dream).

At least iOS is more refined and clean.
Can’t wait to see iOS 13 next 2 weeks

Typical Singkie with AhTiong-phobia, everything from China is inferior. Chinese name? Even without knowing the meaning, as long not AMDK, it's lousy. Just look at the thread comparing Huawei to other top brands.

I'm just saying who would expect Huawei can be no2? Don't think like Trump, have a open mind.

In the beginning it's more than reasonable to expect Hongmeng to be inferior. The other OS has had a decade to get it right. Every thing starts at its infancy and then develops.

Meanwhile you can't expect everyone to just jump on it just because it's Huawei. We are rational consumers. But that doesn't mean as Hongmeng develops and matures we won't support it.

But in its infancy, I will not support it because it will unlikely meet my immediate needs. But in future, who knows.

All I have to say is that this company has made huge improvement over the years. The brand was unheard of until recently. Nor did I think it would one day be able to produce dominant flagships to compete head to head with those of apple and Samsung. Thought it would at max be only a value for money phone maker that only attract the price sensitive. But they started made stellar phones and getting better and better. Maybe copy a bit/a lot at the beginning, but slowly to position itself at the center of the stage being an example for good leading phones.

Hope Huawei survives so that I can still have one more option of reliable phones to choose from with good workmanship, stable system and software, excellent camera and associated software, excellent battery life. That's pretty much all I care for a phone. Of course I wanted cheaper price and more generous storage, but those are secondary.

I am definitely not die hard fan of Huawei. Everything goes as normal without it. But my experience with their phones tells me that they are among the best options and encourages me to hope good of their future phones.

Hahaha, so assuming without knowing the background...

I myself is using Pocophone currently after RMN3. There're another 2 Redmi and 1 Huawei in my house now. I admire Chinese (not China) culture and tradition. I believe my 中文水准 is better than 98% of the typical current generation.

But still... feel of the name is very important. That's why we have 姓名学. It should sound solid, powerful and confident, like '华为' itself, like Snapdragon (骁龙), Kirin (麒麟). Last time the Pentium processor also translated as 奔腾 to have that feel. Why not 喷腾? Windows is 视窗 instead of 窗口, Android is 安卓 (卓越) instead of something like 安得来.

HongMeng sounds so 虚无缥缈,不切实际, wait end up like 红楼梦. :s13: Should team up with Xiaomi, Vivo, Oppo, Oneplus etc to develope a 红盟 OS, still HongMeng, but means Red Alliance... :s13:

If its OS is as good as android why not? I believe it'll be an android fork in order to be compatible with the android apps.

As long as apps by Google are not on the phone I'm super happy leow

Agree nobody wanna be a guinea pig, especially now the future of Huawei is so uncertian. Just don't understand whe member here are so negative when we don't even know what HongMeng is.

I'm no Huawei fanboy, prefer to stay with one brand for easy "management" between the family members, eg, I only need to care about SuperCharge when buying additional cables, powerbanks and chargers, same goes for travelling.
Also, Life is too short for messing with various Android UI. Ecosystem, I guess its one of the main reasons why Apple always have multi-millions unit shipped, regardless if the new product is good.

Chinese as a language, does not have letter to indicate its character's pronunciation. HanYuPinYin and other similar systems were recent invention to help the literacy of Modern China. Just by reading the pronunciation of the character will not give you the correct meaning of the character. the same pronunciation can be any of the dozens of characters, maybe multiply by 2/3/4/5 cause its also a tone language. combine Hong with Meng, they can be hundreds of different meaning when one only have the pronunciation.

Just some example, Hong can be 宏-宏基(Acer),鸿-鸿海(Foxconn),洪, 轰炸,弘, etc; Meng can be 猛,孟,萌,盟,etc. you should know what they mean.

Edited:
Since like "华为鸿蒙" is Huawei official Chinese character. Let's see if its really the case.
