I'm enlisting on 11 august plus I'm PTP batch. So I'll probably ORD november. I heard that Uni starts on august. Will it delay my Uni intake by an entire year? What can I do about it?

Can apply to come out early to study. Any remaining period that u own the mindef must return either during the school vacation period or after graduation.

This kind of case also happen to me. Me poly grad. enlist September , ORD supposed to be September. I apply to come out early to study at the end of july. Go back to serve 1 to 2 months after my first year of uni study. Hence, I ORD later than my platoon mates by 1 year.

You will still ORD in August. No meh? PTP- 24 Months what

Oh yea, my mistake. I thought normal is 24 months, PTP is 26 months, haha. So, should I save up all my leave and use them all on my last few days(how many leaves do I get?) or should I just disrupt my NS and serve after I graduate.

PTP batch means it's 24 months. So you will ORD on 10 August 2018. Best to secure a placing this year or next, and depending on your unit you should be able to defer for July 2018, go for uni, and serve your last month in the summer available.

Source: I just ORD last December and a lot of my mates who are in the same boat as you deferred as how I explained it.

By right you're not supposed to do that but you can speak to your OC then to see the kind of arrangements he can make for you. For now, just focus on getting your placing first, then talk about deferment. None of us here can give you a concrete answer because it really depends on where you're posted to.

Edit: Anyway, if you don't get your placing next year, then deferment in 2018 might be a bit tricky because deferment administration cutoff period is around April, which will cut it a little too close. In SAF, it doesn't mean you say you want defer then next day can defer already. Your OC will need to notify the S1 and start your own deferment processing. All these administration will take time. Even if your OC wants to let you defer, it will also be subjected to approval.

My advice is that be a good solider while serving so that your OC will be more inclined to help you. It's not his job to handle all these for you but rather out of goodwill. Must remember that deferment is always a privilege and not exactly a right, so don't make things difficult for any parties.

But I want to attend the camps leh. Is attending camps a legit reason for disruption? Or do they only consider enrollment as reason enough for disruption.

14 leaves per fiscal year. Save your leave better. Just "earn" those off days to use by doing public holiday duties and whatnots.
