Win 10 installation

Hi, my win 7 pc has this boot mgr error. Then I thought I will just install win 10 instead. Then I ran into the uefi and legacy device issue. In short, after manage to boot thru installation cd, I cannot see my primary hdd. List disk also cannot see. On bios I can see it though. Without seeing the hdd I cannot install the window. Anyone has any idea?

Maybe your HDD is faulty, get a new SSD and install your Win 10 on it.

while what you mentioned is possible, if i set to boot thru hdd, i can see the hdd, but with error.

the thing is also, i have another pc while works normally, and i tried to boot thru cd as well, and same, i also cannot see the hdd after i boot thru cd. lisk disk also cannot see. this does not happen when i was newly setting this up.

Erm... For windows 10, try using USB (at least 8gb) to install? Google "Windows 10 Creation Tool" to know more. I hope your mobo support booting through USB.

Thanks. appreciate the effort so far. i went thru this website. and did the first 1/2 options and didn't work. as i am unable to get into window, i cannot use any tools. i should clarify two pc at different location and i am remotely trying to rectify the faulty pc.

trying to emulate the same on my working pc, these steps taken so far, unable me to see my hdd during cd boot. but yes, i can see it if i use a win 10 installation thumdrive but the faulty pc location only has the installation cd.

You can use another working machine to create the Win 10 USB drive.

maybe your hdd is using MBR but you are loading the installation cd as uefi which requires your hdd to be GPT, so it cannot see your hdd....

need to set your bios to use legacy bios to boot your installation cd, then can see your hdd...

Yes. You are right. But I did set to legacy and I did managed to boot thru cd, but the os installation see no hdd. Run diskpart and list disk also cannot see the hdd, that’s why cannot install.

Hmm..So does that means that if one selected UFEI mode means all your drive have to be GPT instead of MBR(causes UFEI is supported only GPT mode?)

the boot drive must be GPT if want to use uefi....
data drives can be either one if not wrong....

You should create a bootable USB flash drive which contains Windows PE. You can install Windows 10 while using Windows PE.
