I am running Win 10 (Insider Preview) & WinXP Pack 3 on the same PC using different SSD.Inside the PC are 2 additional HDDs of 2TB each. Before using Win 10 the other SSD was loaded with Win7 & the 2 HDDs will be shared with the 2 different OS.
2 weeks ago I did a 500 photo project in WinXP & after editing the pics I selected 100pics in a new folder to upload to Facebook. Of late I have been using Win 10 to surf the web. So I reboot the PC using Win 10 & at Facebook I went to the new folder to upload the 100 pics but I couldn't find the folder. In fact the whole folder with the 500 pics was also missing. So I switch over to XP again but the folders couldn't be found.
Last week I edited another 120 pics & saved it on the HDD together with an HD video project done in Pinnacle Studio. I also install Pinnacle Studio in Win 10 & the rendering there is so much faster. Then I switch over to Win 10 to open the project but nothing appears - only can see the project header & my 120 pic folder disappear too.
Now I know that I can't share the HDDs with WinXP & Win 10 anymore - they are incompatible. This thing happen only to recent folders. I got tens of thousands of photos & videos done long before the appearance of Win 10 & these can be open in Win 10.

for missing files and folders, you got to search the entire computer for it.
nothing much we can do.

if after searching entire pc still cannot file, then next would be to use data recovery tools.

note : for greater chance of recovery, stop using your computer !!!

The problem is not the missing folders or data. The problem is sharing data between WinXP & Win 10. Somehow Win 10 trash all data created in WinXP. I already send a feedback to Microsoft via the Insider Preview feedback but haven't got a reply. I think they know about this problem in the first place

If you visit Microsoft site, they should have some online chat. You can get faster response from there.
