Win 8 is new, so people here tend to stick to Win 7 which is very stable.
Cost is another consideration.

Win8 GUI is very nasty unless you are using touch screen.
And you barely get any improvement in stability or gaming performance from Win8.

for my case i think that
windows 7 is like windows xp
windows 8 is like windows vista (a bit too early to tell but u might never know)
since windows 8 is new and more suitable for touchscreen products.

that's why when windows vista first came out. many people are still using windows xp as it is very stable.

running windows 8 since it was available in MSDN....
took some time to get used to it.

if you are interested enough to want to find out the comparison then try it out yourself with the trial

if not, then stick to what you have or what you think is the next best option.

Not only no improvement. Counter Strike GO Damn laggy on windows 8. When it was smooth on windows 7

I have never tried Win 8 as I have always felt it comfortable to work on Win 7 and also the fact that have heard bad reviews of Win 8 from a couple of friends ...

For those facing gaming issues: Make sure your graphic drivers are installed and updated.

Don't let others or some random website dictate your preferences, try Windows 8 before you decide if it's okay or not.

To me, Windows 8 is as good on the desktop as on a touchscreen.

Windows 8 is Windows 7 on steriods. It is faster, etc.

BUT, the start menu is gone and has been changed to the start screen. Some people don't like that. Some people do. Frankly, its not such a big deal. You can completely skip metro if you don't like it. What you will be left is a supercharged Win 7.

For me. I use both. Metro has its benefits.

Buy what you prefer. To be frank, I'll say get Win 8. If you want to skip metro, you can do it via apps. Also, there's an upcoming Win 8.1 free update that will help you do that as well.

At this point it really does not make sense to buy a new copy of Win 7. If you already own Win 7, sure hold on it if you don't like change. If you are going to splash money on a new OS, just get Win 8. Can change back to traditional format if you want, support will last longer since its a newer product.

That's right. When Win7 first released, many complain also. Is a matter of time to get use to it.

Windows 8 is more optimised under the hood compared to Windows 7. That alone is what matters in the end, because of the next paragraph.

If you want to get away from the Metro UI, you can buy Startisback or Start8 for a very little bit more cost and get your familiar Start Menu back, or use Classic Shell for free to do the same job.

Technology momentum is always moving upwards. You can stay stagnant for about 1 to 2 years but that's about it.

Windows 7 will be for me right now. I haven't update to Windows 8 yet but Windows 8.1 is looking promising as an update.

I have to agree that under the hood update for Windows 8 are much more significant.

Well, I feel that Windows 7 is established and Windows 8 is much more complicated as compared to Windows 7 ...
