hi all, i got a AIO ASUS 23inch win 8 pc at comex , am pretty new to win 8, so it seems the mcafee is preloaded, but when i click the mcafee central tiles at start tiles page, it ask for log in email and password but since did not set any up, i can't log in to mcafee central hence cannot see any settings in mcafee!

When i go to control panel>system> security, the mcafee firewall, mcafee anti virus and antispyware are already turned on, window defender is off...

when i goto "windows firewall"..it says "managed by vendor application mcafee personal firewall"

so should I leave it as it is?

thanks for any help/advice!

oh..ok...i managed to see the mcafee icon at the desktop view from the small triangle at the bottom taskbar...found out it's only a 1 mth subscription...

so should i use the free CD given Trend Micro Titanium cloud edition 2013 internet security or buy Norton internet security or go back to window defender??

If you have free 1 year TrendMicro, just use it first & see if you like it. It's detection/clean rate is about the same as Norton but doesn't have as many features.

Don't bother with Windows 8 Defender, it failed the recent AV review test.

Remember to uninstall McAfee & reboot before install Titanium.

There may still be some McAfee components residing in the system. Use their cleaning tool.
