But at the same time they don't have a specific EULA for Win 10 Home, it's the same EULA for all versions, and the only limits they mention are Educational/Evaluation/NFR.

Generally, you are correct. There is however a restriction against using Windows for commercial hosting purposes. From the license terms -

2. Installation and Use Rights.
…
c. Restrictions. The manufacturer or installer and Microsoft reserve all rights (such as rights under intellectual property laws) not expressly granted in this agreement. For example, this license does not give you any right to, and you may not:
…
(v) use the software as server software, for commercial hosting, make the software available for simultaneous use by multiple users over a network, install the software on a server and allow users to access it remotely, or install the software on a device for use only by remote users;

Yeah, true, this set of restrictions spell out usage restrictions which apply to all versions of Win 10. Whether TS bought Home or Pro, these would apply equally.

I referred to the first set of restrictions as it refers to the restrictions limited by version, as the context of the discussion here seems to be that Win 10 should have different rights limited by Home/Pro version, but the EULA seems to make no distinction between Home/Pro, but Edu/Review/NFR?

I have gone through MS audit on one company before.

1) Home edition can be used in the company, just that there is no abilities to join to your AD.

2) You should not use home edition for file sharing within your network. that's violate the MS terms of usage.

And also, for office usage, please go buy branded PC like HP/Dell/Lenovo. They provide 3yrs NBD coverage and the price difference is not much. Maybe $10-$50 difference?

You are correct, of course. I was merely pointing out that there are restrictions on commercial usage for Windows other than for the 3 versions mentioned.

May I know who are the proper vendor? Are they cheaper than SLS?
2 units consider mass replacement?
Does leasing/installment cost lesser in future run?

Cheaper than SLS, sadly no.
But remember SLS is for home use not corporate and they do not charge you for 3 years onsite warranty that is why it is cheap.

Leasing/installment not cost less, wrong implementation.

Leasing/installement is to allow mass purchase for equipment like
copiers and etc. at a much affordable repayment plan.
Most coy/boss especially Gov cannot one shot, pay like say $50k
for many copier.

That is why smart bosses/management will ask vendor whether can
lease/installment, break down the repayment of $50k into 5 years payment
so easier not to affect one year operation cost/budget.

I only bring this up cuz some boss want cheap, that is why ask IT to go SLS to source for cheap PC.
Without thinking about the:
- EULA especially in a coy environment surely there's file sharing
If MS Audit comes and they realize that you have copies of Home edition
performing file sharing.
You maybe advice to upgrade to pro or slap with a fine.

- SLS PC are cheap, have anyone thought what happen if the PC spoilt which will be

- How are you going to RMA the unit if spoilt? Are you going to bring each component to their respective distro?

TS I don't fault you but we understand how some boss think.
Just highlight some key points so next project you can suggest to your boss but provided if he/she listens.

If you a one man show in your coy as IT, I have even more respect for you. Cuz one man show IT usually either have IT manager or no IT manager so managing IT infrastructure is going to be even harder.

Hope this helps.
Cheers.

Actually I thought even the Home edition of Windows would come with Windows Workgroup or Home group with shared folder feature by default since Windows 95?

In a way, isn't this a feature already provided for users? :s22:

Give me a few more day before I update you all guy for more information on how I settle my issue. We have found a solution to do it.
Anyway, the retailer, the sales person is following up on my case. Their reputation is still there.

What I want is to resolve the problem with a solution not keyboard warrior who reply for fun or put salt into wound. This is a learning lesson which I would like to share and listen to other people advice and solution.

And thank for techidiot reply, you got all the point. we're not in a big organization company so we need to reduce cost. Unless vendor sell cheaper than SLS self-built PC, we can't afford to spend more especially in this economy. 3 Year warranty from vendor doesn't make any different if I have a bit of IT knowledge on how to troubleshoot a PC since I built my PC from Intel P3 till now.

Usually small company do not require 10 or more PC, they do not go for a vendor. And they use mostly laptap which provide 3 year warranty.
If the company have more than 10 PC, they may go for a IT vendor to reduce problem including print server and other IT stuff.
And if the company have more than 50 pc, they may consider to hire a full time IT technician to overlook all IT solution.

for you to share within home network. not in business setting.

sometimes the license is also crafted to cover ms backside. alot of things it is a waste of time/resource to enforce, but if they do not explicitly list it out, it is just a open invitation for people to exploit them especially in a litigious society like US

1) Did the receipt state Windows 10 Home Edition or Windows 10 Professional Edition?

2) Was the price of the OS correct?

3) Which shop sells you the two PCs?

4) Why would you get two DIY PCs for your office? I thought it is better to get them from either Dell or HP? These suppliers can provide after-sales services. (I have worked in a local SME before and even its computer assets were bought from an authorized Dell distributor)

5) Does it really save a lot for your company in this way? :s11:

1) Yes, it is state home edition but the invoice also bill to Company name. Retailer or system builder are not allow to install window home edition to PC for business usage. This was highlight by Microsoft support side when I called them regard this matter. The retailer should know the rules and regulation but for my case the retailer had broken the breach of trust under MS rules & regulation.

2) yes.

3) coming soon.

4) you should know that dell & hp parts are not as good as system builder. If you going for better parts, they going to quote you higher.

5) yes it save a lots. Get the same spec as dell or hp and the price will cost more.

PS: Our dear retailer is taking their own sweet time to avoid my case. It been 15 days seen I brought the 2 set of PC.
Salesman off 3 days. Phone rang but no one answer. Colleagues answer and say not their problem, is their part time staff problem. Salesman answer say is MS problem. Anyway I not going to play their game as I have more things to do. I going to let more consumer know which retailer to avoid due to their very poor services. No much different from Joven case.

Anyway I just need to buy 2 more OEM license and solve my problem and I will never go back to them again.
