honestly need someone who is really good with packet sniffing/process identifying to do this. There's a lot going on and its really difficult to find

I have already concluded it is not the router's issue.

I tested this on many PCs in different areas.

If you see page 1, where i said i use my laptop to ping test to see if router is indeed lagging during the ping spike, it is not.

This is by m seconds. is very hard to duplicate exactly same time same result. Suggest you test it without router by connecting PC directly to ONT.

If you suspect your PC is causing this problem, you can always do ping test with local loop back IP ie 127.0.0.1

Very interesting topic you have :) I hope to learn something from this topic as I am total newbie to network matter.

may I know why is it so important on the speed of the 1ms ping test?

Is this for work or personal purposes?

Sharing the ip address not worry on people hacking?

What can we benefits with these speed test?

If I use vpn can I archieve the same result?

I have tried 127.0.0.1 its always 1ms even though pinging to router at the same time it shows spikes.

Like i said, im quite sure its a windows 10 bug.

My ONT is not configured as a router so it requires a router to function.

I'll try answer your questions;

Q: "may I know why is it so important on the speed of the 1ms ping test?"
A: 1ms or less(<1ms) is a typical response time for a wired connection in a LAN(local area network). If you see spikes in a LAN setting, it could mean there's bad configuration or a faulty/overloaded switch/router...etc.

Ping test is also used to show if devices can see each other in the LAN setting.

Q: "Is this for work or personal purposes?"
A: both:
Personal: As I used to play some competitive fps, ping stability is very important.
Work/Professional: This could show that the updates produced by windows 10 are causing stuttering or conflicts(I assume based on my findings).

Q: "What can we benefits with these speed test?"
A: I assume you mean speedtest.net. This is different from ping test. Speedtest to show roughly how much bandwidth you can achieve from a particular area/server.

Q: "If I use vpn can I archieve the same result?"
A: Definitely not, the speed will then be capped by the VPN server.
If you have 300mbps plan and you connect to a vpn server that has a cap of 100mbps, you are stuck with 100mbps.
If you have a 100mbps plan and you connect to a vpn server of 300mbps, you are still stuck with 100mbps.

hope this answers your questions

Many many thanks it clear some of my doubts while playing online shooting game why I always got shot by someone even before I turn a corner :s13: this make me prefer single player game than online game because of the network speed.

well this depends on the game's netcode(how the game perceives latency)

sometimes the game favors client's side which means on your opponent's PC; he sees you and shoots you, the server takes what the opponent's PC client registers.

an example:
- Your ping: 200ms
- Your opponent ping: 200ms

Technically speaking, you guys are fighting at 400ms.
So sometimes whatever you shoot may not register and if it does the opponent may see it as killed thru a wall....etc.

this is for high ping on fast paced games(usually FPS)

In my case, we are talking about ping instability. So there's a chance that you will see affected windows 10 users start teleporting/jerking/lagging.

Hence, i feel this really needs a fix but there's honestly no proper channel to feedback to.

i think you guys might have to live with this ping instability. Just contacted microsoft, they don't seem to be taking this seriously.

Speedtest using windows 7 vm.

I don't see why this is a windows 10 issue.

Here's a proof that doing speedtest you should not experienced ping spikes.

this is company's PC with .net framework cumulative update removed
My ISP is business and capped at 100mbps.

here to see the updates i have

Sorry let me clarify this: If you on 1gbps router and speedtesting near 1gbps, your ping will increase. this is because you are reaching the limit of the cable, router, ISP bandwidth allocated to you and NIC/ethernet port of your mobo.

So on my 100mbps ISP plan and i speedtest near 100mbps, i should not lag to my router(LAN) but would lag to any connection outside LAN eg: google servers, youtube....etc

If im on 1000mbps/1gbps and speedtests uses near 1000mbps, any connection outside LAN will start to lag. your router(LAN) will also start to lag because the router has a cap of 1gbps.
