So far, my 2 year old Laptop will be able to install the Windows 11 upgrade when it is made available.
2 major requirements/concerns for most existing Windows 10 users.
Your PC / Laptop has to have UEFI Secure Boot enabled at the BIOS level.
Microsoft will only allow TPM Version 2.0 ( any earlier version is not allowed)
| System firmware | UEFI, Secure Boot capable |
To check your existing Windows 10 for current UEFI Secure Boot Status,
Press "Windows Key + R"
Type "msinfo32"
Under System Summary, your "Secure Boot State" should be displayed as "On"
To check your existing Windows 10 for TPM version 2.0
Press "Windows Key + R"
Type "
tpm.msc"
The
Trusted Platform Module (
TPM) Management window should open.
Under the
TPM Manufacturer Information sub-window, look for the Specification
Version = 2.0.
