Hi all,
Got a Q. I realised that the checking for windows update seems to be taking very long on my new desktop as compared to my laptop.

I noticed this trend when I was performing updates for my parents too. Though all the devices are on the same Windows 10 and already on the latest version, I will ensure I always manually check. that is when I noticed anomalies. The desktop for instance is newer with better specs but it is taking so much longer just to check for updates.

Its always on this screen checking for udpate while my laptop would have indicated there is no new updates way ahead.

Usually won't take very long so depending on your network like Wifi.
If you are using USB Wifi on 2.4GHZ band it can take some time.
If not it can mean Windows have issue especially if Windows was updated
from one build version to another.

recently windows update have some bugs and you might be lucky in disguise not getting it up to date

have you try click on the "Pause update for 7 days" option ? sometime windows will update pause update, so I suggest you click on it and then try resume again if your windows update is more responsive.
