Windows update download to your system drive. If your system drive is on ssd then it download to your ssd. Only window store app you can select diff drive to install on. Suggest you do a clean up of your system drive

Either clear space or clone your ssd to an even larger capacity ssd. Even 512gb~1TB ssd can hit capacity quite fast these days if doing multimedia.

What's the SSD size? I suspect OP has not bothered to clear or clean SSD space for a long time. I have a 256GB Sabrent Rocket NVMe M.2 drive and after more than 18 months, it still has >120GB of space left, I do do regular clean up of my SSD and I'd do my best to see than it has at least a minimum of 80GB of space left regardless.

I don't see a need for 512-1TB SSD for use as an OS drive, unless one wishes to partition and install games and/or whatnot. Heck, my old i7 3960 rig had a 128GB SSD as OS drive, lasted from 2011 to around 2017 when I'd had the SSD upgraded to a 250GB SSD (or 256GB, don't remember).

Even my HTPC rig (which I'm using now) has a 250/256GB SSD, upgraded to SSD at about same time as the i7 3960X rig, and it shows about 123GB of available space right now. I'd do a clean up of files every few months, and clean system files while I was at it.

OS drive does not need so much space. I'm using 70GB for Windows + programs with 120GB empty space, games on a separate partition.

Windows has a tendency to bloat unless managed properly.

Very easy solution just follow screenshot, right click download folder and change location to HDD. This automatically changes every item downloaded even by browser or download manager like IDM
