A few years ago, HDDs progressed from 512-byte sectors to 4KB sectors and Win XP had an issue with that.

Back then, the new Advanced Format (AF) drives had a jumper for use with Win XP. Do all the HDDs on sale at SLS still have this jumper?

I'm thinking of getting a Toshiba or Western Digital Green 2TB HDD. Will it work properly with Win XP?

I think for Advanced Format drives, as long as u align the partition starting sector to the 4096-byte boundary (a useful boundary is 1MB which is a multiple of 4096) it can work in Win XP. Only HDDs more than 2.2TB may have a problem with Win XP 32 bit.

Maybe when I buy, I'll just choose a 2TB hard disk.

The new 2TB HDD will be for storage, not booting.

Just run the WDAlign software after installing the HDD is it?
