Sold out liao. Funnily enough, just received a mailer from Cornerstone wines about an offer for the 07, at 64 bucks for 1-11 bottles, and 60 for 12-23 bottles. Better act fast if keen, the 04 Argiano Brunellos there had all been taken when I enquired.

no more?!?! sigh... another great qpr missed. :(

Btw anyone wanna join in order for 07 at Cornerstone?

I have 1 bot '07 that bought last year for more than $70 so I don't mind add one more bot since it's even cheaper now. Then I can drink one bot and age another.

Btw, anyone has been to the Straits Wine sales? hope to hear some great bargain too.

I wanted to go for the sales, but they removed the shuttle bus! So didn't go...

last time i used to work part time in toa payoh area, they have a shuttle from the interchange to turf city. so i save money, take the shuttle all the way inside to turf city, then i walk out and cross the road until 6th avenue to take another bus home.

it's ok one if you know where. but up to you la....

Huh? I'm confused now. Isn't the shuttle bus service reign mentioned was the shuttle service fr TPY & Clementi to Turf city? There are other shuttle service too? Because the shuttle service I know is fr these 2 places.

What I meant is they hve stopped the shuttle service for turf city. There was also shuttle service to plaza city @ other location but that also stopped.

Popped by for a quick morning recce :p

Discounts range from 10-15%, nothing too spectacular.
I think that with the popularity of sales and outlet shopping amongst Singaporeans, the trend these days is for retailers to locate some cheap rent, out of the way premise as an outlet, and hoping that bargain hunters going all the way there will probably pick up something, assuming it is heavily discounted.

Rant aside, not many German rieslings left. Max F Richter almost all gone. Left a few Spatlese and Auslese Schloss Schonborn bottlings at 40+.

For Brunello lovers, there's Fanti and La Poderina, going at about roughly 80 bucks (2006) and 40 (2008 or later) for the Rossos.

Some Jean Luc Colombo - famous Cornas producer - CdPs available too. Again, discounts not fantastic IMO.

Over at the other premise, just outside Giant, there are a few old Bordeaux eg. 1999, 2002, available, mostly Cru Bourgeouis or second wines from Margaux, Haut Medoc, Pomerol and Fronsac at 20+ bucks each.
Not sure if some of the wines may be over the hill though, but these are probably worth a shot if you're feeling adventurous.

Also saw an 01 Barolo available at 80 bucks. Good vintage there, not sure of the rather obscure producer.

Lots of Pfaffl Zweigelt available, at 30 discounted from 40.

Also some Rhone wines by Ferraton, under Chapoutier. Crozes Ermitage and single-vin Crozes at around 40 bucks.

Lots of Aussie wines available, but I didn't really dig there.

Overall I'm not familiar with the producers, and can't seem to get info off the net for most of them. Not sure if this is true, but Straits Wines say they tend to focus on small, family-owned wineries, which sounds good, but maybe a bit of gamble. Not sure if it's just marketing though.

seems that like have different labels in different outlets. didn't see any schonborn at the giant outlet went yesterday. was there for a quick look also didn't dig too much.

saw lots of mischief and mayhem but when seeing the condition of the labels (dried wet look) i moved on as i suspect that the storage or handing wasn't good. prices seemed to be 65-110. something like 50+% discount.

discounts mostly in the 20-40% range. bought a pfaffl wien 2 for try, richter riesling, and paza barrantes albarino.

Yeah I grabbed a few of those Donnhoffs a few weeks back, great value and a good option for MuthuCurry actually. I just wasn't sure if the offer still stood.

Also bought an '04 GSM: Mitchelton Crescent there.

Anyone went to the Magnum Wine Fair?
Quite a nice event, with lots of wine for tasting, and friendly, welcoming staff as well as water available to cleanse your palate. Too bad no finger food to go with the more tannic wines, should BYO in the future!

Tried quite a few wines from Italy - Tuscany, Umbria, Assisi and Piemonte - and some from Rhone, Bordeaux and California. Quite impressed with this Greve in Chianti producer Viticcio's Chianti Classico and its Riserva. Nice fruit and finish. Was pretty interesting to try the same 2007 vintage in its normal and Riserva versions. This is a rather inexpensive Chianti Classico - 38 bucks on offer here and US15-20 in the US (wine-searcher).

Didn't really fancy the Viettis. No big B's available, only the Dolcetto (Alba), Barbera (Asti, Tre Vigne), Nebbiolo (Langhe) and Moscato for tasting. The Moscato had a very vibrant acidity to it and an interesting dryish finish, but I felt it lacked full-on fruity nose and taste.

Also quite liked the three Cali cabs I tried, a Pedroncelli (Sonoma), Couterpoint (Sonoma) and Crossbarn (Napa).

Nice event!

i was there for a bit. was a bit selective in my tasting due to time, probably 10odd only. quite enjoyed la vieille, thevenin calvet, orca, la massa, viticcio chianti classico, lucchetti guardengo d'alba.

looking through the list realised i didn't try any of the spanish and russian rivers. :(

the price for thevenin calvet and orca is interesting. good value under $40. lucchetti very interesting nose. very refreshing like longan.

had a 09 Fritz Haag Riesling QBA with dim sum for lunch today.

very nice, especially after 2 hours of breathing. opened up to a beautiful wine even as a basic estate wine. trumps many mainstream basic whites that are commercially available.

Wow!! Seem like both looi and you are having a lot of fun! I couldn't go to any of them as was working. Seriously lacking in knowledge on the wines! Felt so bad..
