wine connection was it? do u recall the producer?

Should be. It's the shop immediately to your left as you go down the escalator. I don't recall the producer, but the next time I go there for my fix, I'll update you guys. In case you're going down, just look for the bottles on offer in front.

I concur.. I find entry level wines from the developing countries (Argentina, Chile, South Africa) better than the entry level wines from developed countries (USA, Australia, Old World).. The QPR is much better too..

But that's just my own opinion..

Yup, and for someone like me who enjoys a drink most evenings, these entry wines are real value for money and quality too! Chilean, Argentinian and South African wines are way under-rated in my opinion.

Drinking a 06 Zema Estate Cabernet. I believe HKM you have has this before from your TN.

Very nice and vibrant delicious fruit. Enjoying it with steak now.

Yeah it is a very nice wine, loads of fruits and minty notes, very new world. I would rather drink one bottle of this than 2 bottles of supermarket wine (Assume Zema is 2 times more expensive than average $20 per bot supermarket wine)

Edit: its a bordeaux, if i recall correctly, if it helps

I'm in love with that wine, anyone know where i can get more of it ?

Had some Nonya food at Peramakan at Keppel Club today.
The food was great and their corkage policy is certainly enticing - first bottle free and $10 for the second.

So, what would you pair with Nonya delights, eg. Buah Keluak chicken, Beef Rendang, Itek Tim etc?

just got back home. drinking very nicely now. can't remember how much i bought it for but i bought it at one of the crystal wine sales.

very nice, well made. flavours are integrated, balanced. vibrant tasty fruit without being too heavy. this is how i expect a lower mid-range new world wine to taste. i've had a similar positive experience with the Two Hands Angel's Share Shiraz; good quality fruit and well balanced. not looking for complexity at this price point but more of the tastiness and balance.

I love Peramakan. delicious stuff. i always wanted to know their corkage policy, very reasonable :D i am sensing a potential location for our future wine meetups haha...

for the spicy stuff i would go for something a litle off dry. Riesling spatlese would be an easy guess while any off dry whites would work well.

the Buah has a unique taste and maybe lighter-medium bodied reds may do the trick.

Yup it was selling around $40 during 2011 Crystal wines's New World wines sale. But I got mine from WEA.

If yes you can get them from

Wein and Vin

Personally I have not tried them before :)

I drink wine regularly at home but many times I drink wine with a pack of mix vege/meat rice :s13:

Was drinking the 2009 Delta Vineyard Pinot Noir with mix vege rice tonight, preparing myself for next Tuesday's Pinot bash at Oso Ristorante :D

ok guys, for the next session with the under $30 supermarket wines, i have proposed this location.

it's at a kopitiam, nothing glamourous, like our wines; but the food we will be eating is from De Burg. An awesome burget joint located in a kopitiam. it's opposite Ikea.

119 Bukit Merah Lane 1, #01-40 Singapore

De Burg Food and Drink Private Limited - Food/Beverages - Singapore, Singapore | Facebook
ieatishootipost blogs Singapore's best food: De Burg: Puts most restaurant Burgers to shame
De Burg (Bukit Merah) - Singapore Food Reviews, Promotions and Information
four legged foodies: De Burg, Bukit Merah (opposite IKEA)

The 4th link has pictures of their menu. Since it's a kopitiam, we would have to bring our own stemware.

So the theme would be:

"Supermarket Wines of Common Varietals under $30"

Guidelines:
- Supermarkets are limited to the usual supermarket chains including Sheng Siong and Carrefour
- Varietals will be limited to Shiraz/Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Bordeaux Blends, Chardonnay, Riesling & Sauvignon Blanc
- The price of $30 is original price. If the item is under $30 on a discounted price but the original price is more than $30 it doesn't count.

Don't feel stifled too much by the guidelines, they are there to keep things interesting and to locate 'true' values. I encourage all of you to bring the 'best' wines you can find within these guidelines.

Propose Dated: Saturday 30th June. Dinner.

Are you guys ok with it? Let me know your attendance or whether we should do another date?

from wine-searcher.com, it seems that localnose.com is the one that bring it in. i dunno if they buy it from another distributor.

wein & vin brings in another range from this producer.
