I think it's both! Suaning Crystal for the wine fair and WEA for the ** SB.

Yeah ** SB is like macham Coca-Cola, certainly a recognisable, reliable and fast moving good. I think places like Cornerstone and Crystal - the former especially - have some wines with razor thin margins so that i) you can continue patronising them ii) they can share the container with the other wines in the same shipment.

Nah, I think it's more of a response to wine exchange asia's Cloudy Bay SB offer.. $40 vs $44.. It's a really deep discount..

By the way ikileo, can you confirm the address please? Am trying to locate it on google map but can't find it, yet..

It should be correct. Perhaps u can try their main website for the address again? A bit difficult to copy and paste with my mobile.

Hermitage Wines has released that part 1 of their mega sales.
some nice stuff, but must filter through.

I am also looking thru the list, care to share any value buy? I am reluctant to take in any bottles due to the storage crisis at home now, unless it is really worth buying. Care to share? Txtx.

How good is ** SB?

Is it worth collecting ?

Depend on your budget but I found
IRVINE GRAND MERLOT '02 (My favourite Aussie Merlot)
MARKOWITSCH RESERVE PINOT NOIR '04 (My favourite Austria Pinot)
SIRO PACENTI BRUNELLO DI MONTALCINO '06
CAPANNELLE SOLARE'00 ,01, 03, 05

are good buy as I have some of these wines bought at the higher price than their current offer

I'm quite interested on their COPPOLA label too... seems good offer with majority less than $30 but not sure about their quality.

it is cheaper than supermarket prices. it's very popular due to the consistent explosive flavours year after year.

collecting as in collect to keep? most people just buy a case of it and drink it all over a 1 year period.

Wow, some great deals in the sale, thanks for sharing.
I'm on the Hermitage list but didn't get this.
I remember I bought some during their last big sale and this is even cheaper.

For sure the Siro Pacenti and Valdicava are great value. I got the Siro Pacenti BdM at the winery for 50E, so this is even cheaper. And the Valdicava Rosso is pretty super as Rossos go.

yeah forgot to mention VINOPTIMA who produce the best Gewurztraminer I ever tried. Love it when I try it during Parker in Asia event 2 years back.

it's during these kind of sales you can see how much mark up and margins they earn from the wines.

Wine cost price:
ie: 12 euroes = SGD$19

1 X 40" reefer container from Europe = 1000 USD = SGD1220
1 x 40" reefer container = 20 pallets x 48 cases x 12 bottles = $11520
Shipping price per bottle: $0.11 --> Round up $0.2 for other costs

Incl alcohol tax: $19.20 + 7 = $26.20
Minimum 40% margin + GST = $40

And this isn't including your fixed costs and manpower salary.

Thanks looi, ikileo and friend for bringing us the old world Syrah :) Nowadays good old world Syrah are seldom seen (if not often overprice) but new world Shiraz are everywhere (especially Aussie Shiraz) and frequently we can see "distress" investor sale from WEA on those Aussie Shiraz at a price much cheaper than market price.

I actually wanted to bring Tenimenti Luigi d'Alessandro (Manzano) Syrah Cortona Il Bosco as I wanted to see how it evolves since I last tasted it during 2010's Crystal Wines' wine fair. But unfortunately I couldn't find it from my wine storage place so have to stick to my New world choice. Having said that I am still very happy with my new world choice and prepare to tell a story between my embarrass encounter with this winemaker :s13:
