The 'WEA Distressed Investor Sale' is up.

http://blast.emailmarketing.sg/edit...al Year-End Distressed Wine Investor Sale.pdf

most of the stuff i have seen, with some nice large format bottles. i may or may not get anything. nothing really screamed to me "BUY ME!"

WEA has been having its 'Distressed Investor Sales' for as long as I can remember..

Every Sale involves hundreds of cases of wine, or more..

Really makes me wonder: are there really so many distressed investors (in Australia wines) in Singapore? How did they (willingly) part with their money in the first place? And how did they end up buying wines that they dun understand a lot about?

Those are the result of a sizeable number of cash-rich peeps as well as real hard-selling by all the brokers over a few years.

Hmm, does that mean the end of the incredible bargain prices offered by Robert, with the repatriated Aussie wines and all?

Count me in!

Great, I think we've settled on a date.

Saturday lunch, 22nd December

Headcount:

ikileo +1
ikileo friend (+1?)
looiwte +1
hkm (+1?)
starhappy (+1?)

power789?

Not sure if many places open long enough for a 4 hour lunch though, as fantastic as that sounds.

May pop by University Club tomorrow, maybe ask if it's doable as long as we don't order from the kitchen after it's closed.

Stock up few bottles If Cloudy Bay from the guys website. As in ordered. Haven't tried the S.Blanc 2012 yet.

I'm so excited to be going to Restaurant Andre in January. Wonder what wine will they have or pair with their food. Haha

went for the La Paulee de Singapour 2013 today. Quite nice; organized by the French Chamber of Commerce Singapore. 3 course Burgundy lunch, optional cheese plate by artisanal cheese retailer, 3 wine distributors for you to buy them by the glass. Most of the wine range from $5 to $10. The most ex was about $18 or something; the pours were very generous.

Some backstory from wiki
La Paulée de Meursault is a lunch celebrating the end of the grape harvest in Burgundy, France.[1] Originally, the celebration included only winemakers, cellar workers, and the surrounding community. It has since evolved to become an international wine event, and an integral part of Les Trois Glorieuses, which also includes a charity auction held at the Hospices de Beaune and a formal dinner at the Clos de Vougeot. Approximately 700 people attend the lunch, held in the Château de Meursault.[2]
The event was formally organized in the mid-1920s by the Count Lafon.[1] Traditionally, the winemakers would compete to bring the best bottle of wine to impress their favorite clients.[3] In the modern era, Dominique Lafon, grandson of Count Lafon, participates in and helps organize the event.

Since 2000, Daniel Johnnes has been hosting La Paulée de New York and La Paulée de San Francisco which have been officially recognized by the organizers of the original La Paulée de Meursault. A celebration of the greatest wines of Burgundy, Johnnes' version of La Paulée features seminars, tastings, and wine-paired dinners, culminating in the Saturday Grand Tasting and Gala Dinner. Financial Times has asserted that La Paulée "can reasonably be described as the greatest Bacchanalia on the face of the earth"

All the wines were from burgundy. from the sparklings to the whites to the reds. The low prices meant my gf and i could try several wines without breaking the bank. We had a sparkling each, then shared 2 different whites, and 3 different reds.
