I am keen on the CVNE from Spain. I haven't seen this around in SG stores and i've been dying to get my hands on one. These babies can agggeeeee.....

only bummer is the MOQ is 6 of the same label.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzz:vijayadmin:

2007 Casanova de Neri Brunello Tenuta Nuova, Italy Price S$108.90 nett/btl

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino Tenuta Nuova saturates the palate with masses of super-ripe dark fruit, tar, licorice and new leather. The Tenuta Nuova is an especially full-bodied, seamless Sangiovese deeply influenced by the Mediterranean climate of this warm site in the south of Montalcino. Layers of fruit build to an effortless, resonant finish laced with considerable aromatic nuance. This is another terrific showing from Giacomo Neri and his talented team. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2027.

2008 San Giusto a Rentennano La Ricolma IGT, Italy Price S$119.90 nett/btl

The 2008 La Ricolma (Merlot) is brilliant. Layers of well-articulated fruit, violets and minerals come together beautifully in the glass in this brilliant Ricolma. The wine possesses dazzling inner perfume and tons of freshness all the way through to the pure, chiseled finish. I especially like the balance of opulence and vibrancy here. This is a hugely impressive effort from San Giusto a Rentennano, not to mention easily one of the finest wines made in central Tuscany in 2008. Anticipated maturity: 2016-2028.

95 points Wine Advocate

2007 Uccelliera Brunello di Montalcino, Italy Price S$108.90 nett/btl

The 2007 Brunello di Montalcino is lush, sweet and inviting. Today the 2007 doesn’t quite have the sheer visceral thrill and excitement of the 2006, but it more than makes up for that with its early approachability. Dark red berries, spices and crushed flowers are layered into the finish. There is plenty of volume but not a lot of structure. The 2007 Brunello was made from three separate parcels with different altitudes and exposures. Malolactic fermentation was done in steel and the wine was aged in a combination of casks and neutral small French oak barrels. Anticipated maturity: 2015-2025.

1997 Tenuta San Leonardo, Italy Price S$96.90 nett/btl

Still exhibiting a lively color. Deep, satisfying aromas of black berry fruit on the nos, still forceful and youthful. Hints of toast are there, too, but well integrated. Concentrated and complex, solid of structure, this is a wine that combines power with eleganc, complexity, and very considerable lenght. Will happily improbe and hold for a dozen+ years.

3/3 Glasses by Gamberro Rosso

Wine Spectator - 95 Points: Classified 12th in the world's 100 best wines. San Leonardo 1997 was also awarded the Oscar del Vino for the best red wine by the Associazione Italiana Sommelier

2005 CVNE Vina Real Rioja Reserva, Spain Price S$55.90 nett/btl

The 2005 Rioja Vina Real Reserva can be drunk now and over the next decade. Lots of tobacco leaf, licorice, herb, new saddle leather, black currant and cherry notes emerge from this graceful, full-bodied, rich Rioja. It is already complex aromatically, deep, layered and impressively endowed.

93 points Robert Parker (Tasted in Aug 2012)

2006 Mas Romani (Mas Alta) La Basseta, Spain Price S$109.90 nett/btl

The 2006 La Basseta is 45% Carinena, 40% Garnacha, and 15 % Cabernet Sauvignon aged for 15 months in 50% new French oak. A glass-coating opaque purple, it has a sensational aromatic array of liquid minerals, wood smoke, underbrush, lavender, incense, black cherry, and blueberry that leapfrogs from the glass. Surprisingly elegant, it has that extra dimensionality that only old vines can produce. Complex, hedonistic, and exceptionally lengthy, this brilliant effort will evolve for several years and offer prime drinking from 2012 to 2026.

96 points Wine Advocate

2008 Vega Sicilia Alion, Spain Price S$99.90 nett/btl

Deep ruby. Expressive aromas of candied cherry and cassis, with complicating notes of cola, anise and violet. Plush and seamless on the palate, offering sweet red and dark berry flavors and slow-building oak spice and licorice nuances. Closes on a smoky note, with spiciness and very good persistence. Pretty impressive for the year.

2010 Zind Humbrecht Riesling Brand Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru, Alsace Price S$89.90 nett/btl

Average age of vines: 60 years – can age till 2035+.

Being one of the last to finish fermenting Riesling, this wine still shows strong fermentation character (lees, slight reduction) and the more pure fruity aromas will take some time to come out. Usually Brand is one of our MOST aromatic wines and this one will not be year exception. It just Requires more time. The palate is a model of harmony Between Relatively high sweetness and great acidity sharp. This wine tastes much drier than what one can expect in seeing the RS. The finish is long and delicate, with complex citrus and minerals notes. Amazing aging potential.

94 points Wine Spectator

18/20 points Jancis Robinson

2009 Zind Humbrecht Riesling Clos Hauserer, Alsace Price S$60.90 nett/btl

One whiff and sip of Zind-Humbrecht’s 2009 Riesling Clos Hauserer and you recognize that the same fruit as informs this was the bearer of the intense minerality and high-toned fruit concentration found in this year’s “Calcaire” blend. White peach, mirabelle, and quince with their pits and pips seem to be shadowed by their distilled essences and are saturated with brine and oyster shell. Lusciously juicy and exhilaratingly dynamic in its finishing fruit-mineral interaction, this mouth-watering Riesling ought to be experienced in its youth, but will almost certainly also bear following for 12-15 years. The low-acidity of the vintage is not felt at all, except to the extent that – as with this year’s Goldert Muscat as well – 15 grams of residual sugar proves sufficient to result in noticeable though deliciously-integrated sweetness.

94 points Wine Spectator

2009 Zind Humbrecht Gewurztraminer Herrenweg de Turckheim Vieilles Vignes, Alsace
Price S$60.90 nett/btl

-I couldn't resign myself to putting the fruit from this one parcel of very old vines into the generic,- says Olivier Humbrecht by way of explanation for a 2009 Gewurztraminer Herrenweg de Turckheim Vieilles Vignes of only 12.6% alcohol and correspondingly unabashed sweetness (though granted, the impressive 2007 version was sweet even at 15.8%). Mint and cinnamon candy, rose water, mocha, caramel, and litchi inhabit this creamy, caressing, quite delicate, and hauntingly persistent confection. Here is strictly a self-sufficient wine for meditation and self-indulgence, one apt to be worth following for at least the next 15 years and quite probably significantly longer.

06 Roda I Reserva --> far too young and lots of new oak

10 Bodegas La Horra Corimbo --> rich and modern. Approachable but still young

08 Juve y Camps Cava Gran Reserva 'Reserva de la Familia' --> classic. i've had this before and itdoesn't disappoint

10 Gran Juve y Camps --> the flagship cava. pure, elegant, and outshines many other champanges with it's price and quality.

Went to Praelum tasting yday at Duxton, there were quite of number of wines featured, a mix of Bordeaux, Italian, German, Aussie/nz, champagne, USA etc. some of the wines are quite interesting, Frank Family carb Sauvignon 2007 from Napa n Mollydooker The Boxer (Shiraz) 2010 n Pierre Paillard brut NV are really impressive. One comment - the restaurant was a bit too too small to accommodate such a bug crowd...

Hi Holmiumz,

You can get them from several wine retailers, including Enoteca (Ngee Ann City Basement 2, outside Cold Storage) and World of Wines (Central, B1).

Prices are usually $10 for a large box (for 12 bottles) and $5 for a small box (for 6 bottles). Prices can vary from retailer to retailer, and depending on the original vineyard the wine boxes were from.

As a usual rule of the thumb if you purchase several bottles of wine from the retailer and ask for the wooden box, more often than not they would be happy to give them to you for free.

Hope this helps.

I like pierre paillard. nice stuff.

i tried the 2010 vintage ($80). as i dun normally drink shiraz, but i find this is very well made and with elegant style. nice nose of fruits/vanilla/hint of choc, and smooth finishing and balanced acidity/tannin. very drinkable now despite young age. i was told this label is quite hard to find as the wine merchant only got it be allocation. good stuff!

Actually Vinegroup/Bar a Vin at Republic Plaza II do carry the St Cosme wines.
Maybe you can call them or drop by. Not sure if they have the CdP, but they do have the Gigondas, and I also tasted their lower end wines, CdR and Basket Press, at their recent tasting.

u can find it at 1855.

mollydooker is a love it or hate it wine. especially their other labells like Blue Eyed Boy etc... because they are so enormously big, extracted, rich and clearly new world; some wine drinkers find it too over the top and no balanced.

but there are those who love the hedonism the wine brings.

to each their own.

btw, try to block your 23rd March dinner available for those we are keen.
i was contact by one of the forumers from Cellartracker (CT) wine Forum, which i am also part of.

Usually when a CTer visits another country, he will try to meet up the CT locals of that country to share a nice bottle or two (or 3,4,5,6...)

One of them, a swiss guy, is visiting SG and he will be available on the 23rd (Sat) to meet up. I will be on reservist then but I'm sure I will book out by then; unless there is weekend training...

Hope you guys in the wine forum are keen to join in and show some hospitality. he will be bringing wines too. I was thinking Chinese Seafood or Peking Duck. Let me know your thoughts too!
