how lucky you were!

what was the Belnero IGT made from? Syrah/Cab/Merlot? it's typically these few. Sangiovese, at least in the form of Chianti, are generally not big full bodied wines so i guess that why you preferred the IGTs to their DOCGs. No pics?
Had some taken with my crappy phone which are too embarrasing to post online.

i only have time for one tasting and either way i am heading down to Crystal Wines to pick up my 4 bottles i had ordered a month ago.

will be tasting the wines, but won't be buying any. no time, no money, no space. I have a friend's wedding in the morning, will make a quick stop to pick up and taste, head home to rest and prep for wedding dinner.

that being said, the wine list looks not bad, some good deal in bordeaux, sauternes (especially), rhone and burgundy.

the Wine Gallery one is good too, loads loads more to taste from good producers. and from experience their prices are very competitive.

@Baggio10: Hi welcome! there's lots of information on the first page of this thread. but if u have any questions or just wanna talk about what you have drunk or intending to drink, we love to hear it

Wine Gallery is quite good with good range and decent price but...

Was so happy when I discovered that they carry the de Loach pinot only to find out that no stock and no intention of restocking.

There's another South African wine tasting tomorrow evening at CELLARbrations opposite Blue Ginger along Tanjong Pagar from 7-9pm.

yeah i don't think $20-$40 can get your the bottle in the pic :s22:

dessert wine is sweet wine cos it has more sugar than most other wine.

champagne is sparkling wine made in the region of champagne, which is something different. but there are other delicious sparkling wines made all over the world such Cava (Spain) and Prosecco (Italy).

so are you looking for a dessert wine or a sparkling wine?

popped in crystal wine for a bit of tasting.

of those i tasted, the most value for money of the night for me goes to the white Kerlann Chablis 2008 at $37. there's another white to the left of this can't remember the label but is quite good as well. $34. there's a $22 white that is very decent for the price. cheap and good enough for every night drinking.

2 other reds were quite good, but the pricing is kinda on the high side. Lagrange 2006 @ $82 is my favourite followed by Clinet 2004 at $110.

try them if you're going down tomorrow.

how about you recommend both dessert wine and sparkling wine for a starter like me. how much is that bottle from the pic i post ? I have tried red wine, white wine before. the taste of course is not sweet. not my type of wine. hehe

white generally has less body compared to red. less tannic. less complex. shorter finish. there's a certain mood associated with whites.

the whites at the tasting are rather fruity, slightly sweet. if you like it dry then it's also different. quite citrusy, refreshing. good hints of pear, green apple and floral. maybe raisin? the bouquet of the leftmost white is nice. the chablis is however more complex which i enjoy.

pan sear/grilled chicken breast comes to mind as company.

just ran through the list, the $22 is grand bateau blanc 2008. if the rain stops i might make another trip down to do a proper tasting. last night was too rushed.
