Has anyone been to the wine fair at c4 yet? Just an alert, there is a storewide 10% (5% discount + 5% rebate) for all POSB everyday card members from the 17-19 Dec.

the strainer is for the sediment, especially for older wines. it does bring a level of convenience but personally i wouldn't consider it as a 'requirement'. most people just stand the bottle upright for a day or two before opening to let the sediment settle.

for most pple they won't really need it since it's not often the average consumer will open an old bottle of wine or age a wine for several years.

.....or a cheap and free method is to use the neck of a standard bottle to stop the sediments from going into the decanter, leaving a bit of wine left at the end to dispose of with the sediment. Once the wine is in the decanter, you can see if there's sediment at the bottom. If there is, just simply pour until the last bit with the sediments and dump it.

Hock Hua is selling wine... saw it at Tiong Bahru Plaza
Thought it quite interesting
Prices are affordable - $20-$40.
Just wondering if they worked with an importer or started their own branch into selling wine?

just finished my reservist today.
headed out with my friend to take a look at the PS C4 wine fair. not much stuff. but the '05 and '96 Chateau de Fesles Bonnezeaux has very appealing prices. a good producer from the loire valley making dessert style wines from chenin blanc grapes. i already have the '96 at home.

we also visited ENOTECA at takashimaya basement, nice selection; especially the half bottles. we bought a half bottle of '04 Chateau d'Armailhac from the Pauillac region of Bordeaux and shared it over dinner at Imperial Treasure upstairs. Very nice and approachable bordeaux wine

TN for 2005 FYR ...

"Luscious and balanced; a superb dessert wine. Brings in the ripeness and richness of great sweet Chenin wines with the grape's ability to save its enormous reserves of acidity. A wine that will age."

it is a great long aging wine. a great way to explore the other regions of france that also make dessert style wines. this time from the loire valley and using Chenin Blanc grapes, all from a good producer.

@reign: i don't follow chng poh tiong's blog. i just a quick google but couldn't find it though.

what are ya'll intending to pop this Christmas weekend?

on a side note, my old wine fridge (which was a gift) died on me last week. my new fridge came in today. yay!

get lah...it's not too expensive for a quality wine. you can drink it now but can easily keep for another 10+ years.
