No particularly pronounced whiskey elements but some spice notes is there.

Drank these 2 bottles earlier in the week with friends

2015 Dönnhoff Riesling Tonschiefer trocken - Dry German riesling from one of the top producers, Donnhoff. From the region of Nahe. Very ready to drink. 2015 is a good year for German rieslings. Available at Wein & Vin.

2014 Yann Durieux Bourgogne Hautes-Côtes de Nuits Les 1er Ponts - this is something quite different. this is a natural wine from burgundy. so it's whole bunch fermented, no filtering, no pesticides, wild yeasts etc... it's quite a interesting wine. Great body, weight and texture. Acidity is high in this one so maybe a bit polarizing for some who are more used to riper rich fruity wines. Available at WEA Wines.

i think a half case of 6 is quite reasonable. the trick i do is find another 1 or 2 persons to share with. the stuff is worth it.

depends what you are looking for. supermarkets and wine retailers will always have promos.

wine importers will have promos almost every week too. the best is to get on the mailing list. In my first post on Page 1 i have a list of wine importers/sellers which you can visit and sign up for their mailing list.

this is where they send updates and promotions to their private clients. the prices are almost always better vs retail.

so like i said, depends what you are looking for. red, white, sparkling, rose, dessert? budget? for a gift? for yourself? for dinner? if so what kind of cuisine so we can recommend a suitable one? or are you looking at wines from a certain region etc...

promos are everywhere, we just have to know what we are looking for

Not with dinner, I had them after my wanton mee.. Lol

2012 Distant Land Sauv Blanc - Slightly fruity nose, some hints of passion fruit on the palate (I think). Easy drinking, quite crisp, medium finish.

2013 Torbreck Woodcutter Shiraz - Took quite some time to open up in the decanter (1hr). Flavorful nose. I tasted spices and some pepper on my palate, some smokiness. Smooth texture in the mouth. Short finish.

Last night's drink. Really enjoyed this as the grassy after taste is very mild, almost unnoticeable to me
