just to clarify, you want something floral and fruity on the nose, but you also need the taste to be sweet as well or will a dry white wine suffice?

definitely a good wine of pedigree, but this is no where near its peak yet. drink a bottle now (after several hours of decanting - 3-5 hours) to see where it is, and open the other one in at least another 10 years time, if you can wait. currently the primary flavours a delicious but the years will pack on very lovely and complex secondaries and teritiary flavours that will be worth the wait.

Yeah i bought them to cellar for sometime. Will try again in a couple of years. On a different note, i broke a Riedel glass over the weekend while washing it. Filled the bowl up with water, slanted it at an angle and *piang*, the bowl shattered. Luckily i was holding it by the stem. I would think twice about getting Riedels in the future or get the Schott alternatives.

I was actually eyeing the sommelliers series burgundy grand cru but not after this experience.

Yes i'm taking a bottle out for a drink with some friends this saturday. Not decided on which bottle to bring yet.

Haha. No more dangerous weapons in the house. My wife and guests were a little peeved at how easily it broke.

curiously enough, how patient are you when it comes to waiting for wines? are you able to wait till most of those wines you've listed become 10-15 years old before partaking them?

basically, less sugar = drier the wine.

I've some better wines meant for cellering for a slightly longer period, but then again i don't have sufficient fridge capacity to allow a large number of wines for long-term storage while still maintaining a good number of "turnarounds" for weekly drinks. Also, i tend to buy in pairs these days, and that gives me the option of finishing it fast or cellaring it if it's good.
