most are above $100, but considering their age and quality of producers, i feel very gian....:s12:

Good bargain around 100 or below were selling fast. I wanted to get Luigi Pira Barolo 1999 at $92 but it was gone within 40mins after the emails sent out. But I still manage to secure a bottle of Le Macchiole "Paleo" Rosso Bolgheri 1999 that is 100% Cabernet Franc.

I love cab franc. It probably one of my 2 fave red grapes; the other being tempranillo

btw, for those coming for the session tmr, the glasses they provide are average at best. so if u prefer your own glasses you can bring them too. but if it's too ma fan, the ones they provide will suffice.

I'm beginning to love cab franc too, love the mouthfeel, it's so supple.

Anyone tried any from Hungary or South Africa? Any recommendations?

Thought of asking if they have decanter but likely I will open to breath before hand so may not need.

It is a normal wine glass; if u don't wanna bring its fine.

Bellingham is pretty good, and so is boschendal. Both are available from Tott

Many Thanks to all that were present! I think i got a bit hangover after consuming so much wine!.. next round must slow down abit! Can 't wait for the next round!

Ch.Citran 96

Shipment arrived, and together with my friends we opened a bottle of Haut-Medoc Chateau Citran 1996 after a long wait due to recent snowstorms affecting supply chains in France.

The tinge of floral and berry boquet greeted us but was met with a little reluctance from the years of slumber and slow maturing. We decanted and removed sendiments and left the wine there for a good hour all the while craving for the minutes to tick by faster ha ha (well maybe it was just me) but the conversations were great as usual.

The wine opened up brilliantly and all our worries about qualities were dissipated as we submitted ourselves to the sublime beauty of the moment - savouring each sip ! wooha! :s13:

End of my brief report :p

Bought a 2011 Petaluma Hanlin hill Riesling from FP finest at clementi. Traditionally a heavyweight coonawarra producer, it makes a mean Clare valley Riesling from their wholy owned hanlin hill parcel.

Like more good clare Rieslings it is very ageable and it can come across as auster and a tad unapproachable; but will reward with extended aging.

It is currently on offer at $36.90 which is rather inexpensive. Will try it tonight and let u know.

all i can say is that it over delivers on the price. very nice clare riesling.
this was surprisngly approachable in its youth, lime, creamy lees, hint of flint and smoke, white fruit and floral notes on the nose. The palate was clean and crisp with nice fruit and just the slightest hint of residual sugar. decently long finish and all round rather delicious. a bit of spice at the back end.

this will definitely reward cellaring.

may anyone advised me if 2008 and 2010 is a good year for red wine from Bordeaux please?

2010 was considered overall a better vintage but the 2010 wines from the good bordeaux producers are nowhere near drinking anytime soon. Gotta give it at least 6-10 year for the good ones to start to enter their early drinking window.

which producers are you looking at?

Perfect! not intending to drink now anyway. want to store it as long as possible. i'm not good in wine. any recommendation? i'm willing to pay slightly more if wine has potential and reputable.

just some considerations:

1) budget?
2) any prior experience with bordeaux?
3) do you have proper storage equipment/facilities
4) have you had any experience with aged wines? (at least 10-15 years old; because not everyone may like the taste of aged wine because it will lose a lot of fruit but other complexities will come about)

reputation and scores are one thing, but as with food and everything else, our preferences are subjective. it would be good for you to get a good understanding of what style of wine your palate enjoys and buy more wines that go with that style; keeping in mind palates will changes over the years.

I can recommend you good producers within your parameteres above but it is ultimately your palate that will decide which ones you prefer over others.
