Interesting theme and should be full of surprises. Glad to see the regulars are in but also like to meet some new friends.

Btw I don't really know the area well. Sometimes I pack some BBQ pork and siew bak from coffee shop nearby Kallang Mrt but many times the food are settled by other friends who drive.

We can discuss what food we will be bringing later once we firm up the numbers. Alternative we can have some people buy the food first then we share the cost too.

yup, sounds like a plan. let's firm up the numbers!

anyone else wanna join in please do! open to all! noob to pros! don't shy.

and as you buy the wine, do a bit of research so we can tell the rest more about it since we may/may not have had something from this region.

it may be a totally new country like thailand or china, or it may be something old world but uncommon like portugal. i can also be regions within a country you've never had, like a Sicilian wine from Italy or rose wine from Provence, France.

it's going to be loads of fun!

@hkm, do we also have to bring our own glasses?

hey stayhappy21, we can settle the food closer to the event.

the wine can be anything, as long as it's a varietal/region you've never had before.

the wines will be served blind so no need to tell us where it's from. on the day itself just make sure the bottle is covered up and opened beforehand so that it can breathe before serving. i wrap mine in foil.

the $40 - $100 price point still remains as a minimum standard to minimize any sub-par/entry level wine etc...

are you bringing a +1 or just yourself?

on a separate note, the Fontodi Syrah MOQ has been met! Thanks! you know your who are ;) will update you.

Hi,

To confirm: the event is on the 25th of May? That's Friday.. Assuming it'll be around 7 pm, after work hours?

I should most def be going.. (I love trying and drinking wine.. Still trying to convince my +1 to go with me..) Will keep you posted!

Yup we need to bring our own glasses.

Basically what is provided is a spacious room with air-con, tables, chairs & Sofa.

I do keep few glasses in my cellar but will not enough to supply to all.

Besides food we also need to bring water (I have plenty of wines but no water and unless u guys don't mind drinking tap water ;)) and ice cubes if we have white wines.

I had an Arzuaga La Planta, Ribero Del Duero - 100% Tempranillo with dinner.
Very enjoyable and fruity wine with nice, sweet berry flavours.

Anyone else drinking during the holidays?

Hi all wine gurus~

You can pick them up from Enotica (Takashimaya, B2, outside Cold Storage). They sell these boxes at $5 a piece.

Alternatively, the next time you buy wine from any of the major distributors you can ask if they are able to provide you with a wooden crate.. They usually have a stack which they throw away after each shipment.

Hope you find this useful.

check out KOT Selections new range of Loire producers. great producers like Joly and Huet and many others are available! You can download the latest (May) catalog from their site and ask for their prices.

i love loire wines and currently i think they bring in the best selections from the Loire.

find out more about the Loire at Winedoctor: independent wine opinion, Chris Kissack who writes for thewinedoctor.com is a long term expert and insider into the Loire and may great wines (sparkling, red, white, dessert) can be found in the Loire and generally won't kill your wallet for top quality.

F&N Cherryade, hahaha

Drank NZ Spy Valley Pinot Gris 2011 (bought from WEA). I was so impressed with this. Nose of floral and guava (not as strong as sauv blanc), orange and peach on palate. very good & long finish with integrated acidity, complexity. Super buy for $33!! now i understand why Pinot Gris will pose serious challenge to Sauv Blanc from the same region. good stuff!

Any idea where to get an insulated wine carrier (for 2 bottles)? Preferably with slightly better quality. TIA :)

Where can I buy tt?

cellarmaster's outlet at ToTT (bukit timah) carries a healthy selection of alsace wines. you can email them for their full list and perhaps you can pick up from their outlet.

Carrefour carries some alsace wines as well.

cafe calva brings in quite a bit of alsace wines, but they no longer have a shopfront so you would have to order online for them.
