How u popped and drank riesling in the cinema? did u bring ur own glasses? or LIDO IMAX 3D is BYO!!?

eh i bought it downstairs, the cashier at the wine section has a bottle opener so I borrowed her and opened it then an there.

i brought stemless classes to the theater. and when the movie started just pour and drink.

at the drinks/popcorn/canele part of the LIDO theater in front, there is a bar that has snack and pizza and also wine (very decent german riesling, they are supplied by Caveau). so i asked them if i could bring wine in, they said yes if you buy from them they will put it in plastic cups.

the main concern is spillage so my stemless glasses worked perfectly.

i will DEFINITELY do this more often. wine and movies @ LIDO. doubt u can do this legally in GV cinemas as they don't officially even allow outside food. besides i have always preferred LIDO.

next time you guys should do a movie and wine pairing. what movie goes well with what wine?

i'm not carpenter or super DIY person but i guess you could use some kind of laminates or varnish/coating?

on another note: what did u guys drink over the weekend.

Sat lunch @ Saveur: 07 Villa Loggio Syrah, Tuscany. Brought by my friend who lived in Florence for almost 2 years. It's a small producer that doesn't get much export, this is supposedly their more entry level or mid tier effort. not bad given the 8 euro price tag

Sat dinner @ Imperial Treasure: 08 Marks & Spencers Vintage Cava, Spain $35 from M&S. Ok effort for the price. Needs food for it to elevate the flavours much higher. Great with fresh steamed prawns and seafood, really brought out the natural sweetness in the food. Got better with time.

Left my wine fridge off for about a week

Hi folks,

Singapore Power came to fiddle with the circuit box at my place and made me turn off everything...including the wine fridge. When he was done, I completely forgot to turn it back on and I've been so busy at work, I didn't realise it till a week later. I'm screwed arent I?

no lah pls...unless your fridge was kept in a sauna or in direct sunlight.

wines are not that fragile. it's only a couple of weeks, not months or years.

check out KOT Selections new range of Loire producers. great producers like Joly and Huet and many others are available! You can download the latest (May) catalog from their site and ask for their prices.

i love loire wines and currently i think they bring in the best selections from the Loire.

find out more about the Loire at Winedoctor: independent wine opinion, Chris Kissack who writes for thewinedoctor.com is a long term expert and insider into the Loire and may great wines (sparkling, red, white, dessert) can be found in the Loire and generally won't kill your wallet for top quality.

hey guys,

I have imported the wine price list from KOT selections (see above) into Google Docs.

I am really excited about the producers like Joly, Fosse Seche, Huet etc... (i've had them before and love them). I have highlighted some of the producers that I know are good. the rest are good as well, just that i haven't had experience or knowledge of them; but it's always good to try new ones.

As mentioned, the minimum purchase is 12 bottles. I am looking to get 3-4 bottles. I hope you guys can jump in as well, as these wines are only available through KOT and represent the really top notch of what the Loire has to offer.

For those attending the wine dinner on 25th may (more are welcome!) if Loire is a region you haven't had before then this is a good option :)

here is the google doc download link: http://tinyurl.com/7jxvcgy

I would like to order by Thursdays so plug in your orders!

Once I popped open, the fragrance filled my whole kitchen.
full-bodied with plum and tobacco
quite a brilliant drink for me..

I have a ice buckets keep at ES, but we may need to arrange for more ice buckets if we have more than one whites. It will be better if we can tell what colour of wines we will be bringing (White, red, Rose or Sparkling).

Anyway I will open a red.

Mine is red but I am also contemplating brining a sparkling as an aperitif to start.
