Went down to the Wine Fair today, and my god, IT. IS. HUGE!

It's at Suntec, the atrium just outside Carrefour. Organised by Carrefour of course. A LOT of FRENCH wine, with Bordeauxs taking the limelight, but you can find wine from the lesser regions and new world wines as well..

What was a little disappointing was the limited availability of wines for tasting, but if you know what wines to get, the discounts are worth a visit.

May 17th to 27th.

Just back from holiday, whew! Seems like the local wine sales and fairs are making their rounds again.
Hope they still have the wines I want!

FWIW regarding the Crystal Wine Sale, I think the Bibi Graetz Testamatta 07 and the San Polino BdM 06 are excellent wines at significant discounts.

See you guys Friday!

Went back to Italy again. It was a whirlwind food & wine tour with my wife and her friends.
Milan-Piemonte-Parma-Toscana-Orvieto and flew off from Rome.

I spent a bit more time in the wine areas of Piedmont and Tuscany, but bit off more than could chew in the end. Still, a great adventure. I think you'll love Piedmont, and we're not even talking about the wines yet! Quiet, serene and less touristy than Tuscany but so much to explore as well. And the food was simply sublime. In hindsight we should have started from the south and moved upwards, because the cuisine tends to be more refined and creative the further north you go. So you're more likely to be impressed with every meal.

Is the Loire bandwagon still open for boarding?
Would like the:
Domaine du Closel 2004 Domaine du Closel Caillardières 53.00 56.71
François Cazin 2009 Cazin C-C Cuvée Renaissance 41.00 43.87

If you've placed the order already then it's ok.

@hkm, baggio, looiwte. Just got this email today after sending in my order to KOT Selections.

I have terrible news. Our last shipment of wines was shipped in a dry, unrefrigerated container (despite our clear instructions), and as a result we cannot and will not knowingly sell such wines given the potential for heat damage. We are in the midst of insurance and legal action as well.

The wines which came in a prior shipment include:
2009 Laureau 'Les Genêts'
1999 Laureau 'Les Genêts' x2
2009 Bernard Baudry Croix Boissee x2
2009 Cazin C-C Cuvée Renaissance

For a total order of six bottles. If you still want the wines, I can pack the six available bottles and have them delivered; minimum orders and charges will be waived, of course. When the replacement shipment has come in, I will inform you and you can decide whether you still want the wines.

which means the Huet, Bregeon & Fosse Seche didn't make it on this shipment. if you guys are ok, I can go ahead with this order first.

@ looiwte, the Cuvee Renaissance is ok but I will check on the Closel.

Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 2003/2004

Hi all wines lovers,

Anyone interested in Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 2003/2004?

Please reply to thread and I will get back to you asap.

Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 2003 Tasmania JH95 Langton’s Excellent$78 each
Right in the mainstream of the classically austere Domaine A style, with a degree of complexity and intensity within that austere exterior which is quite remarkable. A wine made with fastidious attention to detail and without compromise

Domaine A Cabernet Sauvignon 2004 Tasmania JH95 Langton’s Excellent$78 each
Every bit as youthful as the '05; a very fragrant bouquet with hallmark blackcurrant fruit and a finely framed palate; these cabernets are by far the best in Tasmania, but are not for lovers of Barossa cabernets.

I don't usually take charge of the food because I don't drive and I don't know where got good food. Especially for coming Friday night session I need to be the first one to arrive to let you guys come in.

For food I have few suggestion.

1). Everyone bring something (we can share the cost or pot luck)
2). Order delivery - pizza or anything else (Share the cost)
3). Let one or few ppl to buy for all (share the cost)

Yes beside food we need to prepare ice (to chill the white), water and disposable plate and cutlery.

Let us decide the food first. I have done all the above 3 method with my wines group, usually in a smaller group we will do the first option but if in a bigger group (8 pax and more) we tend to do 2nd & 3rd option. If we have someone able to take care of the food we can go for option 2, if not more convenitently for us is option 3. I guess not all of us have the times to pack the food and reach the place in time.

Lastly I will bring a friend too.

ikileo: Noted on the Loire orders, thanks!

Friday:

I don't mind getting the food (assorted zhi char) but will need to know the final attendance. I think it stands at 11 now?
Will also need to take care of the individual paper plates/cutlery, mineral water for everyone I think?

Maybe someone can also take care of the ice? We also need to know how many whites there will be, for the ice/buckets.

Let's do a head count for the wines:
Me: 1 Red 1 White (1 wine is below the recommended budget but I thought it'd be interesting)

I checked, crust gourmet pizza (u can google them) can deliver to boon keng. Nice gourmet pizza which costs $23 on average and can feed 2-3 pax. We can order 3-4 pizzas and some sides and I don't think it will come up to more than $20 per pax.

But yes we should assign ice people as well.
Decanters needed?
