Hi, will be flying into Narita and coming back from Kansai next year Feb. My husband and i have never been to Japan before. Will be staying 3 nights in tokyo and 2 nights in kyoto and osaka.(8d7n) I plan to visit disneyland (or sea) and mount fuji in tokyo and USJ in osaka. Not sure if it is too expensive for budget. Those who have been to disney or USJ, do u recommend it? Or any other places to suggest? My husband likes scenery while I like to shop. Hehe. TIA!

That’s going to be quite costly for a first trip. Budget? Stay in cheap business hotels or hostels.

Should have just stick to one city, but I think you have secured your flight tickets. If you liked theme parks, why not? Just that having 7N meaning you only have 3-4N to walk around.

I booked my tickets from SQ at only $606! I thought it was a good deal! Hotels wise I will be staying at ginza, kyoto station and namba area. I am only left with entertainment and sightseeing. Maybe forgoing USJ? What else can I do in osaka?

For a short stay, I personally would only consider 1 theme park and would recommend Disney Sea unless both of you really like theme parks. USJ I would consider if big fan of Harry Potter.

Regarding budget, unlike other expensive countries, Japan got lots of options for food and accommodations, so it will really depends on your choices.

I don’t mean that your air tickets are expensive. If you’re taking one-way Shinkansen, it’ll cost you S$100+ for one ticket. And such a short trip, you’re staying in 3 hotels? The theme park tickets are not cheap too. Guess you don’t really have a small budget then. :s13:

Lots of things to do in each city. Check Japan Guide website. Have fun.

Hahahhaa I do!! Thanks for the advise!! So do u recommend me staying all the way at kyoto then day trip out to osaka? My hotel for kyoto and osaka are $215 and $318 for both nights. It's free cancellation so I thought I just book first. How do u recommend travelling from kyoto to osaka?

Hmm really up to you. I’ve not stayed in Kyoto before, most of my trips are in Kanto. Can’t advise on the difference between the two cities. Osaka has more things to see and do at night. Lots of street food too.

Depends on the kind of shopping you’re doing. But if you preferred malls, stay in Osaka then. Just 30 min train ride between Osaka and Kyoto. USJ has a 360° roller coaster ride - Hollywood Dream, we liked SpiderMan Ride as well.

Felt Disney rides are way gentler compared to USJ. We haven’t been back to USJ for years though, been to Disney parks more than 5 times instead.

For a start, you can check wikitravel.

You can also Google for sample itineraries.

Else take a look at the Osaka Amazing Pass and take your pick from the attractions and things to do from that list.

Maybe better to stay in either Kyoto or Osaka, if you stay in 2 different location, you will end up wasting precious time transferring hotels. Also like what they said, very easy to transfer back and forth, can take Shinkansen (15 mins) if you have JR Pass, if not can take normal train (30 mins).

Last time we based ourselves in Kyoto, not much happening at night, but since you will fly out at Osaka, and also loves to shop, maybe Osaka will be better choice for you.
