Hi All.

I have come up with a draft itinerary for my upcoming Japan trip in Dec/Jan. Would appreciate if there are any feedback and comments regarding it and if there can be better options:

30 Dec - Arrive Haneda (6am)
31 Dec - Tokyo
1 Jan - Tokyo
Overnight bus to Nagoya
2 Jan - Kiso Valley Day Trip (Magome, Tsumago)
3 Jan - Takayama
4 Jan - Shiragawa-Go Day trip
5 Jan - Shin-Hotaka Ropeway Day Trip
6 Jan - Tokyo
7 Jan - Disney
8 Jan Home

THis is a trip for 9 ppl whom have never visited Japan before and they wish to see as much snow scenery as possible, hence my choices of places. No kids, all ranging from young adults to 40plus adults.

Appreciate any feedback.

THanks

kiso valley best enjoyed with an overnight stay, as well as hiking the path between magome and tsumago.

I suggest you cut down on one of your tokyo days.

It will also be great if you book a night at one of the onsen ryokans near the shin-hotaka ropeway (Oku hida) and truly enjoy the snow scenery and the snow itself.

Best time for snowfall

During winter, cold air masses from Siberia blow towards Japan, picking up moisture from the Sea of Japan in the process. The wet cold air collides with the mountains along the Sea of Japan coast, resulting in heavy snowfall. Some areas experience extreme amounts of precipitation with snow depths of three to six meters.

Fittingly, Japan offers many popular destinations for snow seekers. While most of Japan's major cities, including Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, receive only small amounts of snow, locations offering snow experiences are readily accessible from them. The snow season in Japan is long and in some places begins as early as November and lasts into May, with the peak being in February.
