Wired mouse not working with macbook

My wired Microsoft comfort 3000 mouse used to working with my macbook air 13.However recently noticed the mouse led does not light up and unable to use. Thought it was usb port, connected keyboard and it worked fine. Anyone encountered a similar problem before?

open yr terminal and plug in yr usb mouse.

in terminal type:
Code: 
sudo dmesg | tail

it should display e log as to what is happening when u plug in yr mouse.
