No wireless option found under network connections.

Only Bluetooth and Ethernet visible.

Is this an issue with the wireless driver?

Do I need to download the driver from the manufacturer website?

By the way you haven't indicated what sort of machine is this ?
DIY / pre-built PC or laptop etc ... some info will be helpful

If there isn't anything under device manage or network adapter ( control panel ), most probably wifi adapter is dead.

- Is the Wifi switch turn on?
- Is Aeroplane turn on?

Suspect could be Windows issue, if Wifi switch is turn on.
Suggest backup any data on the PC and do a reinstallation of the Windows.
(Reinstall Windows is different from Windows reset.)

Ok, looks like your laptop ( depending on the variant ) could be using wireless chip from either Broadcom/Intel/Atheros. As I mentioned above, if there isn't anything under device manage or network adapter ( control panel ), most probably wifi adapter is dead.

You could try to replace the wifi chip ( bottom left hand corner chip with white label ) but might be easier to just get a usb replacement:

Turned off airplane mode, but no option to toggle WiFi on/off

If you are not look forward to opening up the laptop and changing ( what looks to me ) the mini PCIe wifi card, easiest way is to just buy a USB wifi adapter that's supported on your operating system.

Wifi card very rarely will die, most often it is Windows issue.
If you want to make sure, you can download Kaspersky Bootable Rescue CD a Linux OS.
If after booting into the OS and if the Wifi can be detected than that means Windows issue.

Just have to download that and boot via USB?
Kinda looks like an antivirus program to me?

It's a bootable OS, you have to download than create a bootable USB.
This tool is a bootable OS with anti-virus as well as recovery tool.
Useful for not only scanning virus but also can be use in other ways
like testing the PC hardware.

Most likely wifi chip overheat and die. It happen to my brother asus laptop which wifi suddenly disappear but appear suddenly while using lan port. Better bring to acer service center.

I recall having one old laptop, the WLAN was disabled in BIOS. Maybe can check that also.
Oh yah... I forgot to ask TS to try this ! (y)
Some laptops use FN + hotkey or mechanical switch which allows user to quickly turn Wi-Fi on/off
