I have multiple brands and models (Dlink, Linksys, Sineoji, Aztech, Foscam, Samsung, Trendnet, TPLink, OEMs etc.), so the only way I can use them together is to use a 3rd party app like IP Cam Viewer. I must say that Robert Chou's app has been excellent. I have bought both the Android version as well as the iOS version. Robert seems to be always updating the app with new drivers for new models, not to mention new features.

Sineoji's Homeplugs seem to have great support. They even have guys go down to try to optimise the speeds for you. If you are having problems with their IP cameras, you can try to see if you can contact them for a one-to-one exchange.

How do I get the Xiaoyi? Go on line to buy?

Well, what do you know...the IR Auto seemed to work after all. Last night I set it IR Auto before bedtime and this morning the IR was off automatically.

...bad is that IR/IR Auto cannot be set with the app ONLY thru the PC Client s/w!

yes, I was informed that they can send a team to install/setup your system at home for a charge...and faulty ipcams are exchanged (not for repair) at their authorized distributor at SLS.

Anyway I am (anxiously) waiting for them to upgrade their Client s/w that can do a robust wireless downloading of recorded sdcard files. Afterall why provide for 128GB sdcard capability and then have a lousy (non working) Client s/w. Puzzles me!!

I just upgraded my IP camera from Foscam FI8910 to FI9826P. I bought at $199 from IT show yesterday.

It took me about 45 minutes to configure everything from network settings to presets and accessing through internet on my smartphone.

45 minutes? Are you serious?

Bought xiaomi's xiaoyi smart cam (with night vision) from their official taobao store for $36 which includes a 8GB memory card which I thought was a pretty good price. Shipping to SG only cost me an additional $1.50.

Been testing it so far and I can say without a shadow of a doubt, that there is simply no competition if you want a simple, easy to set up ip camera.

It has local storage via microSD, 720p recording, IR night vision, 111 degrees wide angle lens, an intuitive mobile app, 2 way audio, ability to save pictures to your camera roll in real time, motion alerts at custom time intervals (eg. 2200-0800), an activity feed which allows you to quickly view video snippets when motion was detected.

Did I already mention their aggressive pricing at $37? Here are some product shots with sample image quality.

actually it could have been shorter.

nevertheless, it is well known the foscam setup is not so simple.

my camera FI9826P has a slight problem now.

The following functions are not working:
alarm -> snapshot -> ftp
alarm -> snapshot -> sd card

The following functions are working:
alarm -> video -> ftp
alarm -> video -> sd card

foscam singapore is totally nuts about this issue. they told me to call the foscam support from china directly. it is a good thing foscam has a toll free global support now. they dont have this previously.

the technician at foscam china is doing remote debugging of my camera now. i will update here later on.

initially, their customer support cited that my snapshot problem is due to poor internet connection. i said like WTF. i am using a wired connection, my video has no intermittent connection and i got no problem with alarm -> videos. so how can it be a connection problem. my ftp is working fine.

i suspect it is a firmware issue.

can anyone manage to take a snapshot or do alarm -> snapshot -> sd card or ftp with their FI9826P ???

i got mention before. dont rely on wireless connections. i am not sure what is your model but the wifi chipsets are most probably crap. thats how makers make more money.

Not sure if foscam support recording to a network folder, but if you have a spare pc with a VMS running, you can get the real time stream data stored onto the NAS.

Good news and support from Mr Huang of Foscam. They managed to resolve my issue with the snapshot. Problem was fixed after a new firmware upgrade! :s12::s12::s12:

For those who are unaware, Foscam has a toll free global hotline @24 hours.
