Anyone know of an android app that works with Vstarcam T series that does not let the user adjust settings and security. I want to use it so I can let visitors see a cam. Thanks!

I tried Viewer for Vstar IP Cameras but I can't get it to work with gocam.so.

Bro, all cam apps allow change in settings... if can't change no one wants to use. Try dns.gocam.so, may or may not work

Viewer for Vstar IP Cameras from Google Play store does not allow user to change the camera settings, password etc. Does allow PTZ. I finally got it to work. You have to use the IP number of XXX.gocam.so. The gocam.so URL does not work when entered in the app. It does when entered on the computer.

Now anyone know how to port forward on a Cisco 1140 enterprise AP?:s13:

Are you referring to change of the app settings, or changing the settings on the camera? Most apps allow changing the app settings but you can't change the settings on the camera. For the latter you typically use a web browser to access the camera and set the settings on the camera, or you use a PC program to do that (but you must run it from the LAN side and not the WAN side).

Dr and G - I was trying to find an app that will allow a visitor to be able to see the camera image and move and zoom the image without allowing them to change the password, alarm, time, SD, wifi etc. Apps like Vscam and Eye4 allow you to change all of the above through android on the phone. (Don't know about Apple.)

I found Viewer for Vstar IP Cameras and it does not allow the visitor to alter the camera configuration. I tried setting it up using the URL serialno.gocam.so in the setup line labeled "URL", but it did not work. I then converted the URL serialno.gocam.so to it's numerical IP (###.###.###.###) and it works. Must be an app bug. Now I can let friends view my outdoor marina camera without worrying that they will change the settings while exploring the app.

Hope this clears it up for you.

For apps like IP Cam Viewer, you can only change the settings on the phone; you can't change settings on the camera or router. Are you looking to lock the phone settings of the cameras?

"Are you looking to lock the phone settings of the cameras?"
Yes. But only from phone apps.

I admit that I had not tried to change the settings on the camera because I had no need to do so. After your last I opened Eye4 in android and held my finger on one of my cameras. The options menu came up and I went to SD Card and clicked format. It formated the SD card on my camera.

I opened the camera on the PC, and yes the SD card was clean with no video history which it had prior to the format.

So I can change the camera settings, or at least format the camera SD card, using the android app. I will experiment more but the menu's give me the options and I just took it for granted it would work. As far as SD Format goes, it does work or I am really missing something.

Thank you for your consideration in trying to help figure this out! Also thank you for all of your efforts in starting and monitoring this forum.

Most cam nowsaday uses pnp technology already... its ultimately the stability of each brand. I used to have a 3x zoom of neo coolcam. Died in 8 months.

most of the china made cams have external IO ports to receive signal from external input. You sure wanscam n neo have output and not input?

I ordered a Wanscam for testing, it uses p2p and see how it goes. I checked with the oem, they all claimed has I/O input & output. Normally if IPcam has I/O feature, it will has the in & out pin. That means there are 4 pins for in & out. :)

It's very strange that Foscam does not has this feature.. Kind of short change. Although I prefer use it but lack of I/O it put me off.. What a shame.. :s11:

I think I understand your requirements now. The way I see it, it is more a result of using the p2p/cloud capabilities. Granted such cameras make it easier for non-technical users to set up the camera, but it also means that your video feed goes to the cloud servers. To date, I still use the old tech portforwarding method to setup my cameras.

BTW, most cameras allow you to define various types of users e.g. admin, visitor etc. If you use the supplied app, can you not configure it to use the visitor account rather than the admin account? Or is such an option not available on the app? I don't use the supplied app so I don't know. IP Cam Viewer lets you choose the User ID.

Supplied app from all the cameras only uses admin account to use the app, thus making the cam vulnerable to changes made by curious onlookers.

IP Cam

I guess this had been ask many times before. So pardon me for asking again.

To keep it short:
1. Using Singnet, TP link router, IPC-S5030 series IP cam
2. Got it IP cam working, can view, move, but only locally.

Problem:

Can't access remotely either using WAN address(116.*.*.*:3333) or using DDNS.
Can't access using iphone apps, display "invalid ID" after scanning the QR code.

Is there anything I miss out? Or there is something blocking my access since even iphone apps cannot access the wireless ipcam.

Thanks.

Did you set up portforwarding on your TP-Link router?

Try changing cam port to 81. Sometimes router cannot do diff external port to diff internal port forwarding.

As for unvalid ID, try contacting support. Cld b missing on their cloud server on ur id

Thanks user109s, hope to hear your own feedback on wanscam. Nowsaday most people didn't use the feature anymore.

I think put it this way.. not many people knows how to use this feature I will say. I use this feature to switch on an external IR so that the surrounding will lit up like a daytime. No hidden dark corner. Of course, other useful features can apply also. This require some technical knowledge to do so.. ;) For example siren, fire alarm & etc..

No one using FOscam camera already ?

Not until Foscam improves their products. Now it just like other brands and no extra features or functions and yet price is above others. To me, not justify on the $$ I spend.. :s8:
