Hi gecko, which one do you recommend? :) Does "No-IP" stable?

It is a very good replacement for DynDNS. I never have issue with it so far. With DynDNS, I need to run their client as the router's version doesn't seem to work. I have an issue because I got two wireless network at home and if the laptop is running on the other network, the client will give me an incorrect forwarding address. With No-IP, the Asus router's DDNS client works great.

Hi Dr_ARCHer, thanks for the advise. I've a quick look on "No-IP" and it seems free register. Do you subscribe its service?

I think if no-ip works, why not give it a try, I'm always fine to pay for a service if it is good.

Hi All,

I'm interested in getting a vstarcam but since the office is closed for the day and tomorrow, may I know if I can see all demos (web UI and mobile UI) and also get professional advice from the part-timers stationed at Challenger Funan?

Is the power cable extension and memory card deal provided by Marix available at Challenger Funan too?

And is there any special promotion that someone here can highlight to me? From the blog i read, there is a 6-month warranty extension promo till 30 june.

Cheers

Hi geckoSG

Do you have any idea if there is a big price difference in challenger retail price? If it's like $10+ off, I'm okay. But is the power extension and memory card deal available at challenger funan too?

Yeap I saw the online demo for mobile (Quality is not gd but is it because the light in the room is off and it is on night mode?). But would like to test the windows client which I heard is available at challenger funan.

I guess not. Neber seen the ADATA card or extension sold there. Depends on how u decipher good n bad. If u didnt see anything at night, that cld mean night vision is turned off. Poor lighting would also make the cam turn on IR mode making the image looks purplish (washed out) in daytime

How bad is bad when u test?

Bad as in it is very grainy. Very different from the youtube video posted by Marix's blog. But I guess it is because it was shot in the dark that is why is it grainy.

By the way, for videos recorded by Vstarcam, are they easily convertable to popular format such as .mp4 etc?

Really? I only know that its grainy if resolution set to very low n using qva mode (mobile phone) on mobile app. I guess the demo got sabo by people wanting to make it looks lousy.

And you cant change the format... sadly to say... but they have their offline players at least

So what if you want to submit a video as evidence, how to ensure the other party will be able to watch it?

Hi Guys

Anyone know of the difference between T7837WIP-AR and T7838WIP other than the door alarming feature?

I'm more concern of the impt features such as video quality, encoding format, user-friendliness with mobile app and desktop client, etc.

Thanks!

IP Cam with PoE Injector / Splitter

Hi all

I am looking at using this TP-Link (or similar) PoE injector and splitter to connect IP cams for my house, so I just need to lay Cat6 points and no need 13A points:

TL-POE200 - Welcome to TP-LINK

I thought this is really neat, but just wondering why there's so little interest/discussion in this PoE technology? Has anybody actually done this? Any issues to note?

Would the TP-link DC output cord from the splitter work with the common brands of IP cams here ... like Dlink, Vstarcam, Foscam, etc?

You still need to have the structured cabling. For me, I do not have ethernet points and cable running in my house, so I elect to go wireless. If you have ethernet points, you just need a PoE injector and a PoE camera. Dlink and Panasonic have models that are PoE supported.

Surprisingly why many homes including private ones r not designing homes with even the most basic structure cablings.

Clover by the park is one of them. And worst. The ONT is terminated at the service balcony in the kitchen area where you only go there to "sun" your wet laundry.

My friend was cursing n swearing at the lack of design in terms of modern internet age.

Hope new developers starts adding structure cabling into their design.

Even my last BTO FLAT had structure cabling in place to each room including kitchen and bomb shelter wif access panel/termination point located at the main door area.
