i will say the Panasonic or Samsung Smartcam P6410bn.

the rest will say something else, but i think their suggestions are better than what you are considering, unless really budget constraint, but i rather spend more 1 time than spend cheap many times.

VStarcam C series are capable of recording to 64GB MicroSD cards, I believe Samsung ones are capable of 128GB

For IP Cameras, if you can afford the premium prices, go for it, Panasonic ones are good like what Dr_Archer had previous noted. If you want something that just works without breaking your bank, then brands like VStarcam will work for you. Ultimately, its the tech support that people are looking at.

Drop in effective viewing angle is due to 1/4 CMOS sensor it seems. If using 1/3, shld hit at least 128 like the Samsung with a 120 degree lens?

Ask bros here, would you rec wireless or homeplugs for the IP camera. Reason being seems less stable with wireless than if plugged directly to Ethernet point. Thinking of using homeplugs as a solution.

Am using vstarcam, sometimes if on wireless have to reset the ipcam as cannot connect to it after some time. I've three cams and they all behave the same way. If wired, never had problems.

Try setting your wireless as wpa2-psk, AES encryption. This normally will work. The last time i saw such issue is the router makes camera use TKIP encryption during setup, then after a while starts changing to AES, when that happens, all my cameras went offline.

I have over 20 different brands of IP cameras and all of them have to be reset once in a while. I suspect it has to do with WiFi networks in general, and how interference from neighbouring networks would affect them somehow.

On the other hand, it could also be the camera. I have a Trendnet that is connected via wire, and once in a while, I would need to reboot it. I do not know if it is the router's or if my ISP's (SingNet) problem.

Thanks DR. That's interesting to know. Amazing u can manage 20 different brands!! I suppose once in a while is OK, prob firmware related stability issues. Once a day or less that's too frequent and irritating which was rather disruptive. It is a lot more stable on wired.

I agree. Software related issue causes hang. The defective camera should be RTV.

OK tried all the wireless settings available to camera and 2 different brands of router. Updated firmware to the latest as well. Have 3 cams and they all behave the same way, it is stable 24x7 on wired, but often (less than a day) needs reboot on wireless, no image and can't connect. This has been the case since day 1, looks like some software issue on this model, or I'm just unlucky with 3 of some faulty batch. Marix simply says it is old model so best I buy new ones.

I'm trying Aztech HD cams next, seems to do HD via wireless stable. Enough of troubleshooting vstarcams for me, it shouldn't be so difficult.

Hi folks. I have a pair of Y-Cam Cube HDs nicely set up and streaming on the LAN. However, I'm unable to get WLAN access. I suspect this is simply due to my (relative) lack of technical knowledge, rather than anything inherently wrong with the HW.

Basically I need a networking guru to help me set up my stuff & get it all streaming nicely beyond the firewall; and also set up NAS access/recording. Any recommendations (via PM if necessary) will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
