actually, auto reboot feature by vstarcam is good in such a way that it allows the camera to try to recover its connectivity to the network by itself.

However, if there is no log file to show users what causes network break (in order for them to prove break is not their fault), this feature is often seen as a camera fault.

But the recent firmware upgrades really is a disappointment for the T & C series. Lots of reboots caused by recording problem on microsd.

Does the reboot issues happens only when recording is done on the microSD media?

errr, 5~10 minutes to reboot? Doesnt sounds right to me. I have never seen such a long reboot before.

Unless you are talking about the time it took for you to be able to see the cameras 'online'

So, what cameras are you using right now? All foscam?

Yes, for it to be online. Its painful for recording as well.

Was having lunch earlier with one of the senior tech at MARIX, told them about the issue Gribber was talking about here. As far as they are aware of, they only did refund for T Alarm series.

Gribber, you seems to have purchased a single LOT of the defective products by VStarcam, which they (VStarcam) are unable to resolve til today nor trace out the reason why the cameras auto-reboots by itself or sounded its own alarm for no apparent reason, hence MARIX decided to refund your purchase.

As far as T Series (non-alarm), there wasn't any recent returns, but they are are not willing to discuss on the stability of the T & C Series. Only thing I noticed that he smile and shakes his head at times in dismay when we talk about the latest firmware.

I am just glad that Marix are honest people. At least they share with you the truth.

They are good people but brought the wrong goods in.

Anyway just to clarify, if its a single lot as they have told you...

They could have change it for me when they knew the set is faulty but they actually chose to refund me.

That actually tells you something's off.

Just my 2 cents.

Trust me if you want to. I am just sharing and am not looking to offend anyone else who might be a vstarcam supporter.

theres nothing personal when we share knowledge. It used to b a good brand, but now, i guess they didnt do the basic. Just only think of r&d n dominate market with new stuffs.

Without MARIX doing QC for their product, i have totally lost confident in their product. Reason why I bought chinese product is the fact tat MARIX do product tests before they sell. Not selling just to have something to sell. If it is not good, they will drop the product. They used to b foscam distributor, but dropped the brand within a year.

davidau, actually, you can download his free APP and test first, IP Camera Lite, use it to scan your camera and test it out before you pay for the PRO version, I am a very happy user of his software.

No complaints on his work

So, MARIX have introduced their own zafego branding. So you guys wanna check it out can go to their website to view the product. Demo Links are there.

So far, I tested online the monitoring basics only, video and audio are decently clear.

APP wise, does not support multi-viewing, but stable on viewing, I didn't encounter timed-out for the last 45 minutes of viewing over wifi from office.

They didn't open up the admin account, but just a guest login, so we cannot test the playback.

Information provided by them as follows;

The camera's playback module allows you to playback with AUDIO. You can drag timeline to playback the timing that you want within its 30min clip.

demo Camera mounted around 5Metres off ground. Standard 3.6mm Lens 56.14 degree viewing (pan 355/tilt 120). max support 128GB microsd, recording for up to 21 days with audio.

I got a VStarcam C7824WIP to try things out. And I was trying to duplicate the reboot issue, so that is still some work in progress.

I am able to extract the live feed via FFMPEG at least for this model, cannot comment on the other models of VStarcam. The discovery time seems to be take quite a while after powering on, I wasn't able to detect the camera presence even though the network has registered an IP address for the camera. It took a while before I can able to connect to the camera and get the feed.

Will be streaming in the feed for a longer period of time and see if there are reboot issues. I guess when any reboot, yes it takes a longer time to get the live feeds in again and you can potentially lose content.

The other issue is wireless stability, I had issues setting it up with some of the older routers, not sure if it is because of the security setting, but it seems that with my older Netgear router, I am not able to get a connection via wireless, no issues with wired connection.
