Hi bros,

I need to setup a wireless IP cam to monitor for my baby kid.

As I have never done this before, I have a few questions to ask:

(1) Does the mobile app (or website??) limit the number of concurrent logins? Or is it strictly 1 login at any one time? Anyone knows the number for Foscam & D-Link?

(2) If I want to record 24x7 (and not just activated recording via motion detection), what additional setup do I need? I have no NAS setup currently. Can I just plug a USB HDD into my router and use this to store recordings?

(3) If NAS is required for 24x7 recording, how do I choose one? Do I get the "surveillance" version or just normal NAS will do? Does the NAS having different spec-ed CPU/RAM/HDMI have any difference if my main aim is to just to do baby monitoring and recording?

(4) Do I need to buy a Network Video Recorder from Foscam/D-Link? Looks like I just need to buy a normal HDD for storage. But I don't understand the number of channels and how does this differ from NAS. Do I need to buy the same brand for both wireless IP cam and NVR?

Thanks in advance for reading.

my reply based on foscam FI9826P

1) supports 8 user accounts. multiple logins per account are permitted
2) you can just plug in an external HD to your router. mine is a WD passport. the camera supports alarm and schedule recordings -> FTP or SD

8 users accounts means 8 different account can be created to view or 8 concurrent view at same time? Curious to know, cos most IP camera I tried, when I go up to max 4 concurrent view, every single models regardless of brand laggs.

i tried opening to 5 concurrent connections of my foscam. No issues at all.

the max 4 concurrent connections limit was set in 2012. by now, i believe the limit would have increased.

http://foscam.us/forum/max-connections-t3180.html

i think there is definitely a limit when a bottleneck is reached. not sure of the number. but do you really need so many connections? for a home usage, probably max 3 connections ie just husband, wife, 3rd party.

i also think there is no need for xxx number of connections but since we are at it. Might as well.

Picked up a zafego today since my T7838wip has connection issues and there seems to be some good review about it. No doubt the audio compared to vstarcam is clearer, the image quality at low light area was not. Hope there will be a some kind of fix for this.

Below is an example. Same scene different cam.

Hi gecko, I'm not sure when u reported this issue and was it reported here or direct to marix? I remembered u posted a review and I checked again, it was post #3185. Maybe I missed it somewhere.

It was also becos of your review which made me purchased the zafego. Hope it's just a simple firmware fix. To me, image over audio, as I just monitor my kids with helper at home whenever we r at work. Seldom listen or talk over the cam.

if you have any bugs, report directly to the manufacturer. it is a waste of time reporting to the distributor. the distributors objective is to sell as many units as possible. they care less about the bugs. this is my experience with foscam singapore.

i had a problem with FI9826P. you can check my posts recently. good thing is foscam china has implemented their 24hr global support. i managed to work with them directly. a new firmware was released and my problem was fixed.

Went down to Challenger Funan during lunch today and bought the sineoji 492 ipcam. Setup in our office.

The setup was a no brainer honestly, I download the android app on my note 3, fire up the app, enter my router password, enter the user ID and password, that's it ! :s13: no lan cable required.

The video is really sharp..next I off my phone wifi and turn on my phone 4G network. The Pan & Tilt is really responsive, no lag on 4G. I can Pan & Tilt without experiencing any delayed movements. And it is in HD mode yet it can pan & tilt without any lag.

I captured some shots of the camera's video quality. What impressed me for the installation, really a no brainer. The live video on 4G was really impressive even on HD mode.
